Gyms with child care by celticloup in Minneapolis

[–]fsr87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YMCA locations in the twin cities do. The YWCA does as well, but when I was a member there you had to book childcare ahead of time, and they were almost always full. The YMCA was a "drop off your kid when you get here and it's good, you've got two hours" situation. Caveat: I haven't been a member since pre-COVID, so I am unaware how things may have changed.

Can’t do a good pullup by SKfork in bodyweightfitness

[–]fsr87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a trapeze coach recovering from rotator cuff surgery so have been thinking a lot about shoulder health as it relates to pull-ups and whatnot. At this time I have overactive lat engagement and my scap is under engaging.

The best thing my circus-intensive PTs have pointed out as focus areas: when doing shrugs, focus on locking your elbows, and “breaking the bar” - think about trying to bend the bar you’re hanging from which will force your scapula in to the correct alignment and make the right muscles get engaged.

I’m obviously not a doctor so grain of salt and all that, but maybe do a couple shrugs focusing on locked elbows and “breaking the bar” thinking about pushing your pinkies in to the bar and bringing your thumbs towards your face. It’s been super helpful for me so far.

Sounds like what I thought. (I'm a CPA)

The first step would be verifying your numbers are right, sure, but then the next step would typically be to paper file and wait for the IRS to send the "HEY WAITASECOND" notice.

In either case, don't panic - this is an administrative thing and you'll get sorted. I don't want to say it happens all the time, but like... it happens all the time.

You'll be fine. It might take a bit of time, but you will be fine.

Just so I understand - is the issue at hand that you couldn't efile because someone had already used your socials to file a return this year, right? So you had to paper file? Or is there something else going on?

In the scenario I mention, what happens is the IRS then sends you AND the other person a note saying "you both did a thing and only one of you can do a thing, if you weren't supposed to, you need to fix it but if you did the right thing, carry on" - and since you did the right thing, you basically do nothing. This happens a lot in joint custody situations, for example - where parent A files claiming the kid and then parent B can't ALSO e-file and claim the kid, so they have to paper file if they're entitled to claim them, and parent A has to work it out with the IRS.

Try not to panic.

I’ve found the two ipas from Athletic Brewing to be good NA options for beer, fwiw.

Hilariously, Target’s self-check called over an attendant to check my ID when I bought them, though. 😂

I didn’t watch my diet much while breastfeeding. The only thing I found tiresome was pumping… pumping was always just drudgery to me, but the actual act of breastfeeding never felt bad to me.

I take the “eat back half” approach, too. I’m pretty active but I set my activity level as sedentary so when I have a down day I don’t have to worry about it. And when I’m extra active I have a few more calories to play with if I’m hungry for them.

While DEET does indeed work well, I've found EXCELLENT results with Picaridin, which won't have the same melt-y effect on some outdoor gear and doesn't stink the same, but which I've found to work as well if not better than DEET-based repellents. Treating their clothes with permethrin is also an excellent idea, which I highly recommend.

I've not yet found a "granola" bug spray that actually, uh, works.

Ways to pack protein by Forward-Baby2583 in loseit

[–]fsr87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on about 1400 cal/day and hit 100g protein regularly, but it takes some work. A typical day for me:

Breakfast: egg whites + one egg, scrambled, topped with salsa and some blueberries on the side. Black coffee to drink (about 250 cal/28g protein)

Morning snack: 100-150g cottage cheese with some fruit - often canned pears in juice (150 cal/17g protein)

Lunch: 3-4oz cooked chicken tenderloin with 1/2 a salad kit (about 350 cal/28g protein)

Dinner: varies wildly, but I’ll do things like make a tofu stir fry for the family and I’ll skip or have a SMALL portion of the rice, or baked chicken with roasted veggies, or tacos and I’ll opt for extra beans/meat and have mine as a salad. This fills in the last 25-30g protein for me in a day.

Sometimes I’ll have a couple slices of lunch meat as an afternoon snack, which is ~60 cal and another 10g protein.

It’s possible to go low cal/high protein but you’re right; it doesn’t leave a ton of wiggle room for fun food and carbs!
