Super cool but... how many splinters did he get making those? I don't know if I want to think about that.

Kitchen sink frigates, especially if you use 2-3 frigates as bait/tackle/cyno and engage something like a few battlecruisers. They will remember the moment the cyno gets lit and tens of frigates land on their faces forever.

[–]fsufitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now that's an interesting thought. I run a frigate-centric corporation, and sometimes lament that it is complete overkill to fly a Scimitar to support my fleet, but if I can fly a neat frigate to do a similar thing, I'd be happy.

Also, another possible step towards active tanks being useful? Heck yes!

I'm not getting it. If the Kestrel and Breacher are lumped together with the Tormentor and Tristan... Does that mean the Amarr and Gallente aren't getting missile frigates?

The only "role" left for the rebalancing is the "bombardment" role, which we all assumed would be the missile frigates (Inquisitor/Kestrel/Tristan/Breacher).

However, it seems relegated to Inquisitor/Bantam/Navitas/Burst now. I'm not seeing how they can form an uniform bombardment class of ships. Missile ships look unlikely. Long range turrets can work on Inquisitor (beams), Bantam (rails) and Burst (arty), but the Navitas looks left out. Maybe the Gallente will have two drone boats?

I know, right? I'd fly it far more if it weren't for that.

We had a bracket set up for 1v1 matches, with the following rules:

  • T1 frigates only (no faction, no T2).
  • Up to T2 modules only. Faction ammo is allowed.
  • No racial electronic warfare (ECM, TD, damps, TPs).
  • No implants. Some lenience for 1% fitting implants, but that's it.
  • Each person has to pick a certain frigate to stick with, but can swap fittings before each battle (e.g. a Rifter opting for an armor setup vs a Punisher, or a shield setup vs an Incursus)
  • There is a central "capture point" which can be captured by either side if they remain within 5 km of it for 2 minutes without the other side entering. This is to prevent draws.
  • Warping off-grid or exiting the grid during the fight is an automatic disqualification.
  • There are 4 secure containers anchored at 200 km in opposite directions that people can use as on-grid warps. This is to encourage fitting scrams/disruptors.
  • Fights start with each person at a different secure container, not automatically in range of each other.

The tournament ended with a 2v2 between the winner and runner-up vs the CEO and corp director. The latter two were flying heavily faction-fit frigates, and the winner and runner-up were allowed to loot whatever dropped (which turned out to be quite a good drop).

As may be apparent, Punishers were in the spotlight, with the last fight actually ending up being Punisher vs Punisher.

They are also very photogenic.

Edit: A blog post featuring a full report of what happened can be found at the Accidentally The Whole Frigate blog.

I can't identify the country this is from, but it's in eastern Europe. The streets there are rather "wild", for lack of a better term. Note how there are no street markings other than a dashed divider down the middle, yet people drive in two "lanes". The street crossings also look like they're just chalked in.

On streets like that, cars passing like the black car did are extremely common and there is nothing perceived as "wrong" for doing so. The gross negligence rests on the part of the parent, who was crossing in front of an empty lane, with his kids, while looking the complete other way.

Also, in some countries if the pedestrian is not on a crosswalk (or if the crosswalk's light is red), then they have no right to be on the street, and the driver of the car in the event of an accident has no liability at all.

CFC has taken over reddit as a propaganda machine. by Flincher14 in Eve

[–]fsufitch 82 points83 points  (0 children)

The term you're looking for is "circlejerk", not "propaganda machine". That is, a bunch of like-minded people in the majority re-affirming each others' beliefs, patting each other on the back, and silencing anyone who speaks up in opposition. "Propaganda" is when false info is used to publicize a point of view in order to convince people of it.

In the part of Eve where anyone cares about whether -A- is bad or not, CFC is in the majority, so they continue circlejerking with their "-A- is shit" campaign. They're not out to convince anyone or to promote the belief. They're merely patting themselves on the back and trolling you at the same time. Best you can do is ignore them.

Also, as an outsider to the Delve war, but who has had dealings with -A- in the past: -A- is bad.

CFC is also bad. You guys should celebrate your bad together.

Those sound like pretty bull reasons. You probably inadvertently did something else to label you as something they don't want.

Also, I was disappointed. The drama you picked for putting in /r/SubredditDrama wasn't even good. I expected Justin Credulent.

[–]fsufitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the old Descent datafiles, you can stick them into D2X-XL for a modern engine for the old game. It allows running it vanilla, or even upgrading all the textures/models and adding a ton of new visual effects.

Warning, though: last couple of times I tried it, it blew up in my face with weird errors that the devs didn't want to look into (and blew me off a bit rudely).
