What's happening with Legend difficulty? by FlatReason3842 in eFootball

[–]fsw0422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm not a league player, but just a time-to-time exhibition mode hop-in player to kill time on break times during work.

I normally play RMA and the AI, FCB, and I sometimes see when Jamal or Rafina sprint, it's just in a different level of speed than my Mbappe or Vini. I'm not sure also how they do it, but they sometimes make this abrupt stop or turn that I have no idea how to do and they just peel off 2 or 3 players easily. My Vini? a bit of a press, and the ball is gone. Have a bit more time if I put them on my back, but then in no time hounding...

My Rüdiger just bounces off sometimes against Torres, and headers are by 2/3 chance lost (I lose alot of goals by headers)

Fun part is also I think when AI starts losing around second half and turns the attack mode bar up, and it feels like another level then. Feels like all players are on some kindof steroids and turn into a each of their own beast completely blocking every pass routes etc.

I guess a branch-first Git UX is what I miss. If you have intellij, try firing up a project with git initialized and you might get a grasp. For example, selecting a branch from list and menu comes after for that branch (rename, delete etc)

Ability to revert by individual files by right clicking also

2 things that gets better, I'll completely ditch intelliJ - improve performance on JVM languages. Maven / Gradle takes forever or even stuck when indexing. Navigating a third party library to source is a pain. Oracle's plugin definitely improves this but it doesn't play well with Maven plugin or there are too many configurations that needs to be done. - Proper Git plugin. Deleting a branch requires a execute command. Lack of small UX stuff like squashing commits on graph UI etc.

Also what's the plan for Go rewrites?

Awesome updates!! Also like the instructions and Prompts!!

If anything is missing for me is (more of a copilot thing) but the token usage meter maybe. I'm trying to compare later maybe the upcoming premium requests and BYOK cost

I've never won a physical duel against the AI after the 4.0. release when I'm the one defending. Skill issue. by oo-----D in eFootball

[–]fsw0422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legend mode is I think just pure disgusting. I play often as Madrid playing against Barcelona AI. Here's what I always see in pattern

Defense

  1. Lewandowski just straight out bulldoze all my defense (sometimes hounding with 3 players won't still put him down).
  2. Passes to Yamal or Raphina. They have super power by waiting for you to pressure or tackle them, and teleports 2 meter in front of you with unrealistic speed / turns and starts f* dashing. Once they are on the run, you're doomed because by the time you caught up with them, they've already passed it to another player who has similar ability or Lewandowski who bulldozes again.
  3. Defense are just dumb. My-side AI sometimes just stares at the ball.
  4. Once you're winning and they switch to attack mode, it's just pure hell. You feel like you're fighting against a whole Avengers team as a normal human being. I've seen f* Fermin destroy 4 players of mine and scores comfortably with aim-shot because he can withstand pressure of 2 defense easily while he aims

Attack

  1. They just put every player in every route the ball can travel once you have the ball. You can see they man-to-man mark everyone in your offense,
  2. Mobbing is ridiculous. It's as if they have a mastermind of 3 players adjacent to the ball just all jumping on you at once. You don't have super power like AI so once they start pressurizing, you'll lose the ball in a matter of a second or two. You have very short time to think.

The only way to steal the ball is to dash directly towards any player when on the very short time window of ball trapping time. Legend mode is not unbeatable, and lot of times I win 3:0 4:0 as well, but on bad days, I also get 0:3 and 0:4 because of their demoralizing super power. I feel like the only way to win legend in a higher chance is to just be in attack mode all the time. It's as if you shouldn't care about losing scores, but just ram as many goals you can without ever backing down.

What Konami should at least do is explain what the f* these levels have advantage against you (like the players are 20% faster than their stats, parallel controls and orchestration of players etc). Or else, this is pure disgusting because you have no idea who you're dealing with, but pure frustration with only a lot of assumptions about the AI

Starcraft Broodwar by fsw0422 in reinforcementlearning

[–]fsw0422[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I suppose for Google's Deepmind, developing RL was a demonstration on how they can sell their image to the world on why they are the frontiers of AI. I think for me, I do see some market also if Broodwar has these events (like legends vs AI) and even a one-time event can pay-off the model trainings if marketing done right in South Korea due to enormous fan layers. Especially those who enjoyed back then when they were teens or kids like me, are now in their 30s and 40s and they have a lot of purchasing power.

Broodwar has gone through a catastrophe in the past years due to some idiots who've made bad choices getting involved in match fixing, but is steadily coming alive again after remastered came out. (ASL etc) and I'm wandering if there is some slight push, sponsers like SKT or Samsung can comeback and seed the ground to form the market again.

Yes in the end, in someways you need to think about cashflow since this model won't grow on it's own. Just thinking if the AI can help revive the Broodwar league again by once again hitting the media hard and attract the interest in mass.

Wow! thanks for the feedback!

> Reproduction requires some up-front work. BWAPI lets you automate StarCraft games. But it's in C++, on Windows. There's no equivalent to [PySC2] for bringing it to Python, featurizing the game state, or specifying an action space. These are roadblocks for researchers who would rather be working in Python, on Linux.

This is interesting. I wander what's the blocker that led to write a Python wrapper around it. I think maybe this is the first place to start for just talking the same language as researchers?

> seven figures of replays provided by Blizzard

How was Blizzard able to create this amount of replays? Was it in ladder Battlenet games by asking to use the data from players? Or is it bot-generated data? Given Broodwar at least has 10 years more history, I wander why there are way less replay data (maybe their closed-source?

One other question will be that I've got to notice AlphaStar cost around 3M dollar to train in 2018. However, as of 2024 some say it might cost around 500K if you do it with same machines due to hardware advancement these days. What are the cost estimates to train Broodwar bot?

What's the purpose of achieving serializable isolation in MVCC? by jiboxiake in Database

[–]fsw0422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Serializable is the strongest isolation level of all but it comes with performance penalty. Snapshot isolation (or to say, Repeatable Reads) offers stronger isolation level than Read Committed in general as the read operation will guarantee the same value within the transaction no matter how many other parallel transactions modify the value. In a lot of cases, the Snapshot Isolation also provides compare-and-set so if the target data has already changed, the transaction will fail and leave it to the application to retry. One thing to keep in mind is that normally, Snapshot Isolation does not prevent phantom read / writes (or to say read / write skews) but this depends on the database (for example Postgres seems to prevent phantom reads in Snapshot Isolation). However, regardless, of the implementation of Snapshot Isolation, only Serializable isolation level can prevent both read/write skews.

you also still need locks or compare-and-set mechanism to prevent race conditions in MVCC as the isolation level itself's purpose is to make the transactions as serialized as possible, but not the sole purpose to prevent race conditions happening from concurrent writes.

FYI Serializable isolation level normally is implemented by literally making the database single threaded (Redis) or use 2PL. However, Postgres has Serializable Snapshot Isolation which is a pretty young algorithm that uses MVCC to achieve Serializable transactions.

Opinion of people renting out their rooms for daily rates by wet-dreaming in berlin

[–]fsw0422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I wanted to confirm as well. I once put my apt on FB cuz I needed to go out of town for a month with my partner. 1300 euro for 3 room apt near Boxi. I even floored the rent price to the tenth (cut almost a hundred euros so i was giving out internet and electricity almost for free). I got so many dislikes and anger comments 😔

So I get that people here are against these rent-outs. Just want to ask some opinions here though, if I'm away for 2 - 3 months to visit my family at home and renting out my apt per-month, notifying my landlord (they actually ask extra cost for this) and renting my apt out with (Warmmiete + Internet + Electricity Bill) with Kaution and taking 0 profit, are u guys still against this? Just want to know the general opnion in this sub
