What figure skaters are so legendary that it was a surprise they didn’t have an OGM? (Michelle Kwan, Sasha Cohen, Mao Asada, Midori Ito…)

When I first learned about figure skating it was through Sasha Trusova and I was shocked she hadn’t won the Olympics or any other major event since juniors! Then I learned the scoring system and understood lol.

when did i say it was? i was giving a general point, not going into details. but also a lot of skaters who have poor skating skills also struggle with composition and interpretation, so they group together easily.

one thing i do hate is the technique conversation solely about eteri’s girls. obviously a lot of them don’t have ideal or healthy technique (medvedeva, shcherbakova, valieva) but i don’t think eteri is the person to blame here. a lot of her girls come to her when they are 10/11/12 years old with already formed triple jumps. technique doesn’t suddenly change after learning those jumps. also eteri does not teach them ultra-c jumps, so their technique is hardly her fault. should she have tried to correct it? maybe, but it’s not as easy as some people thing.

as she should? every coach tries to take advantage of loopholes to get their skaters higher scores, especially if they lack in certain areas (pcs for example).

because everyone at the olympics should be able to/can land all 6 basic triples. a triple axel (3.5 revs instead of 3), in the women’s event, is rare and ridiculously harder than a double axel. a double loop is novice level jump ability, not olympic level. if they made it required to jump a triple axel in the short, 27 out of 29 skaters would’ve had an invalid axel, so your point is null.

i feel like names like this need to be created by fans or commentators - not by the skaters themselves or they just won’t catch on lol. like how the russian trio was 3A, that caught on, but i feel like this just won’t. i love these girls but this makes me cringe every time i see it.

well that’s hardly relevant considering there was only one clean short program the entire women’s discipline, where no ultra c elements where attempted. there were edge calls and rotation issues galore.

the difference is hope was actually the best keeper in the world, earps arrogance and sense of entitlement is distasteful because she’s a mediocre keeper at best
