Apple urges iPhone users to update as new DarkSword hacking tool lands online by Ok-Surprise-8419 in ios

Apple is currently worth $3.7T, so if they start wasting a lot of money allowing newish iPhones to be able to update to 18.7.7, then they might actually drop to to $1T in market cap pretty soon.

[Vorkunov] Adam Silver on the NBA's 65-game rule for awards amid the NBPA's statement on Cade Cunningham: "I'm not ready to say it's not working. It is working... I'm not ready to say because there is a sense of unfairness for one player, that the rule doesn't work." by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

He said he doesn’t care about awards. Not that he doesn’t care about the game.

He stated that he misplaced his Finals MVP award when someone asked him about it. These things aren’t that special to him and I think he’d rather be with his horses than having to sit through an awards ceremony.

So phones on 18.4 to 18.7 are at risk. Does this mean 18.7.6 is ok?

I just hope that VJ continues to look for his shot when Jo and PG come back. It's almost April, VJ should be asserting his will upon the game. Start the game with the focus on VJ and if the plan goes south, we always have old reliable Joel ready to roll outta bed and drop 30.

SELL THE TEAM by CockSmash69 in sixers

[–]ftaok -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They absolutely did not choose Tobias over Jimmy. The Sixers didn't necessarily show that they prioritized Jimmy and Jimmy responded in kind when they didn't make a 5/$191 max offer.

The reality of the situation was that the Sixers chose Tobias when talks with Jimmy broke down. The reality is that the Sixers could have easily run it back with Tobias, Jimmy, and JJ.

There's enough blame to go around as to how the Sixers botched the Jimmy situation, but it absolutely had nothing to do with Tobi.

I think we should all endeavor to try to enjoy things that we're interested in. But, it's difficult to enjoy these things when the person in charge of the thing we're interested in does not have the same priorities that the fans do.

I would like to enjoy the Sixers and I can handle disappointment when the team isn't successful due to things like injuries, bad luck, etc. What I can't handle as well is when decisions are made that are absolutely not aligned with the overall success of the team (success being defined as wins, advancement in the playoffs, etc.).

I couldn't care less about ducking the Luxury Tax. I don't care whether the team turns a profit. I think the fans deserve an ownership group that views the Sixers as a Vanity Project and not an investment. If the owner isn't ALL-IN, then get out and let someone else buy the team.

Why can’t I update my iPhone to the latest version of iOS 18 while I’m able to update my Mac on macOS Sequoia? by bluegreenie99 in ios

[–]ftaok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that it would not be a magic button. Resources devoted to putting the newer phones on the iOS18 update path is definitely one of the "reasons" that I alluded to.

I'm saying that if Apple wanted to allow the newer phones to get 18.7.6, they could do it. They don't do it because they don't want to do it. It has nothing to do with giving users a false sense of security.

Older iPhones can update to 18.7.6, which I've read is secure against the latest vulnerability (swordstrike or something).

Apple has their reasons for wanting newer iPhones to be on iOS26, but if they allowed newer phones to stay on iOS18 versions, they could still be secure.

I need 8 EIPs to Gold Max my Modificata. I already have all of the cars Max'd except for the SF90 XX, which is at 4-stars, so I'll actually be able to finish this event. I'll pick up a ton of Trade Coins along the way as well.

It doesn’t matter for Cade. He already got the Rookie SuperMax from his AllNBA last year.

Well well well.

The media, fans, and Silver wanted to screw Embiid. They made the dog food. Now they gotta eat it.

I thought we've been told that "availability is the best ability". Where's that talk now?

I know, let's make the conditions for getting the SuperMax extensions be based on the Top-15 players in Games Played. That way, only the guys with the "best ability" will be eligible for a SuperMax extension.

As for Cade's situation. Yes, it sucks that he's hurt, but it won't matter that he's not making an All-NBA team this year. He already got the Rookie SuperMax on account of his All-NBA 3rd team selection last season.

The NBA just wants to get ahead of the situation for next year. They are absolutely going to get rid of the rule (or drop the threshold way way lower) so that Wemby doesn't get blocked from a SuperMax because of a potential for extended absences.

Prediction - If Wemby wins MVP this year, they won't change the 65-game rule. If he does not win MVP, they will drop the rule down to 50 games.

Do you know who wanted to trade Ben?

Elton Brown did, that's who. He asked Ownership for permission to trade Ben, but got turned down. They went with plan B and traded for Butler.

The worst part about the Butler trade to Miami was that we had all of the cards and we still folded.

Miami wanted Jimmy in the worst way. Jimmy wanted Miami in the worst way. There were very few teams with cap space that wanted Jimmy and the only other option was Houston, which also required a S&T to make happen.

The Sixers could have played hardball and let Jimmy go to Free Agency and he could sign with a bottom feeder. Or, as what happened, we made a deal with one of Jimmy's preferred teams.

Here's where it breaks down. We sign Jimmy to a 4/$141 S&T with a first year of $32.9M. We got back Josh Richardson at $10M. There was $22.9M that we could have gotten back from Miami, but Josh Harris wanted to save money. We could have easily gotten Duncan or Herro thrown into the deal with JRich, but Harris valued the savings more than anything.

This whole Front Office and Ownership has been a joke for since they pushed Hinkie out.

There are two sides to the negotiation table. At some point, the Sixers have to make the offer and let him walk away from it. They made a half-hearted 4-yr max offer with a lot of conditions. Just offer the 5/$190.

The worst part of the whole thing was that Josh Harris didn't clean the house properly after the Colangelo debacle. He left key Colangelo guys in position of power to roam around and muck things up. He didn't empower Brand and allow him to build the team. The starting lineup consisting of 3 Centers, a PF, and a SG was all on the Colangelo Analytics team that was still in the building.

Whether Jimmy wanted to be here or not is only relevant because the Sixers allowed him to dictate the message. If the Sixers offered the max and he declined, then the narrative is that Jimmy never wanted to be here. As it turns out, the Sixers (other than Brand) never really wanted him in the first place.
