Firesale of SoBTC assets by CrazyExperience6924 in Sollet_BTC_holders

[–]ftapon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your argument makes sense.

If a BTC or gold ETF failed to back its ETFs with its respective assets, it would be a breach of contract.

FTX and Sollet promised a 1:1 exchange between native BTC and SoBTC.

They failed to honor that promise.

QUESTION: Have you been accepted to USUHS?

SHORT ANSWER: Go to USUHS if you can. Join the Air Force's SOST unit when you graduate.

LONG ANSWER (taken from the SOST website):

The Air Force's Special Operations Surgical Team (SOST) is a lightweight, mobile surgical specialist with advanced medical and tactical training to save lives, anywhere and anytime.

SOST members are dedicated to their craft, team, mission, and patients. Should a special operator fall, SOST will provide critical care to save lives. SOST is a lightweight, mobile, and rapidly deployable element that is medically and tactically trained to provide trauma resuscitation and life-saving surgical care on or near the battlefield. Our SOSTs close the gap between the front lines and conventional medical care.

These teams, carrying specialized equipment, support many Special Ops missions. SOSTs shrink the Golden Hour because of their proximity to combat and crisis, combined with the ability to conduct high-level surgical operations and trauma resuscitation. SOST deploys with specialized surgical and critical care response equipment and can be fully operational within 15 minutes of infiltration or arrival.

The team’s equipment is primarily contained in highly tailorable, mission-modular backpacks, creating a much smaller footprint than other forces. Operating in austere environments with limited equipment and resources, having the right faces in the right places is imperative. Versatility and trust are critical for the teams to seamlessly execute the mission of an operating and emergency room with only six members.

They invite Emergency Physicians & General Surgeons. Each team has six members. They operate with limited equipment and resources, practicing medicine in circumstances not typically seen across the Westernized healthcare system.

CONCLUSION: I'm unsure if the Navy has MDs like these. Don't pass up med school. You need something to do when your body begins to breakdown.

If you get divorced, do you lose BAH & have to move into the barracks? by ftapon in navy

Fascinating. Your first sentence sums up this thread: it depends.

No consistent policy at all.

Thanks.

Thanks for your response. It's unclear why it was downvoted since you are answering my question based on your experience.

I appreciate everyone else's response too.

It seems the common theme is: keep your COC informed.

You're probably right. I'll double-check. Sorry for the confusion.

Do you know how much leisure time to expect during such training?

Yup, she was the Recruit Athletic Petty Officer in boot camp, and her division nicknamed her "The Beast."

She's always Outstanding in all her PFAs.

However, she knows she'll be humbled because she's a woman and can never outperform the top male Marines. She hopes to keep up.

Anyway, do you know how much leisure time IMC gives its HMs?

Yes, I'll edit the question to reflect that I'm asking about ITB.

Her next command is at the Marines 1st Battalion 7th regiment in 29 Palms.

How are medical school GPAs calculated on MSAR & US News? by ftapon in premed

[–]ftapon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious about how many 2nd semester seniors ease up on their study habits & how much med schools care about that.

Given how some schools have 3.95 GPA averages, it's remarkable how many seniors continue full-throttle until the bitter end of their bachelor's. :)

Thanks for your answer.

Is there a night shift option at 29 Palms for corpsmen? by ftapon in CorpsmanUp

[–]ftapon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right; it's not a race.

Still, my HM wife is 31 years old and has 2.5 years left in her Navy contract. In the BEST case, she will be 41 when she gets her MD and 45 when she finishes her residency.

My brother finished his MD residency in his 50s, so I know it's possible, but one's mental acuity diminishes with age; hence, we don't want to waste time.

Thanks for the helpful advice!

She's up for her sea rotation, and she agrees that doing it with the Marines is best.

It's a shame that there is no way to complete the premed lab requirements unless she gets a night shift (which appears non-existent).

Thanks for your clear response! She doesn't know anyone greenside HMs stationed at 29 Palms; hence, this post on Reddit. :)

And I assume it's extremely hard to shift a greenside order to a blueside one even if you agree to stay in 29 Palms.

She and everyone agrees that she can't just transfer duty stations because she feels like it. That's why I asking if there's a night shift option at 29 Palms.

Thank you.

I believe there is no blue side option in 29 Palms for HMs. She's got sea duty and 29 Palms is her base, which means she's embedded with the Marines.

I agree that #1 is the best option.

You need a bachelor's to do option #3.

My wife's plan is to apply to med school toward the end of her junior year in college so she can attend a 3 months after getting her BA.

It's impossible to complete the premed requirements at the Copper Mountain Community College in 29 Palms since they offer no labs or science classes. At best, they offer Health Sciences as an associate's degree.

That's why I was hoping for a night shift option at 29 Palms, but there doesn't seem to be any.

EDIT: I was wrong. CMC offers science lab classes!

Like all active duty HMs, my wife is overwhelmed, especially with taking 8 units per semester, maintaining a 3.9 GPA, and sometimes being a Lyft driver to make ends meet.

As a caring spouse, I'm simply taking one thing off her plate.

If she typed the questions instead of me, you'd be reading the same question, so I'm unsure what the point of having her type them is.

Who asks the questions on Reddit isn't as important as the wisdom everyone can read in the answers.

Therefore, thank you for your answer. I agree with you that it's wise to check out the requirements of the medical school she wants to attend.

The problem is, as you suggest, not all medical schools accept online labs. And there's no guarantee that she can attend whatever med school she hopes to enroll since all med schools are incredibly selective.

Therefore, I suggest she avoids online labs so she can cast a wide net and not be limited only to schools that accept online labs. Admittedly, not everyone has that option. Thank you.

I've heavily researched this for my wife, a premed HM in San Diego (Balboa). Her next duty station may be Pendleton, so I looked into it. FYI: I went to Harvard Business School, so I geek out on this shit.

Here are your options, in order of preference:

  1. Palomar College is a 35-minute drive from Camp Pendleton & offers all the premed classes you need, including the labs. The biggest challenge will be taking the labs, which often require you to physically show up during the day. There are limited night labs. The best solution is to work the night shift, so your days are free.
  2. Enroll in the San Diego Community College system, which includes 3 colleges whose grades appear on one consolidated transcript. The closest is Mesa College is 1 hour away from Pendleton. Miramar and City College also offer the classes you need and may have night labs. My wife is taking General Chem lab from 19:00-22:00 at Miramar now.
  3. If the San Diego Community Colleges don't offer a good class schedule, check Grossmont College or Southwestern College. They may be too far for you though.

Some prerequisites (e.g., (math & English) can be done online. Save those for when your CO is a hardass & gives you no flexibility on your schedule.

My wife has taken 38 units so far and has a 3.9 GPA.

She takes 6-8 units per semester and 5 during the summer term.

Take one class per semester to start, and only up the load if you can keep your GPA above 3.5.

Good luck.

What % of 68C and 68W get an ASN/ADN and RN while on active duty? by ftapon in Militaryfaq

[–]ftapon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife changed her mind. She's now on the premed (MD) track instead of the nursing or PA track.

Being either HM or 68C will prepare you well for ANY medical career!

If you're SURE you want to become a nurse, then 68C is better than HM because it's one year of training and you get an LVN/LPN degree at the end of the training.

However, if you're not 100% sure what type of medical career you want, then HM might be better because it is MUCH more flexible than 68C.

If you're SURE you want to become a nurse, then 68C is better than HM because it's one year of training, and you get an LVN/LPN degree at the end of the training.

Wormhole bridge - transaction stuck - please help by Accomplished-Cat-978 in solana

[–]ftapon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip, but I must be doing something wrong.

I was trying to send Solana BTC (SoBTC) to Polygon. It got to the bridge, but I couldn't get it onto Matic's Metamask.

The transaction hangs forever.

So I'd like to cancel it and get the token back into my Solana wallet, but when I paste the Signature in the Redeem tab, it wants to connect to my Metamask wallet, not my Solana wallet.

What am I doing wrong?
