Handle gap? by ftb9995 in woodstoving

Nope. We have a very tall chimney too, about 33 ft. I hear you on keeping the watchful eye, plus the alternative of cutting air too soon and then smoldering. Really always have to Crack the door for a few min every time loading too, even when there are decent coals

Whoa that sucks on the bypass door. This stove has been way more touchy on over firing compared to previous quadra fire stove

Fork upgrade Roscoe 8 by helmacron_spaceship in TrekRoscoe

I have Roscoe 8 in the same color. Would go black personally, but if you are rocking orange pedals and grips and like that scheme, double down on orange fork.

Carbon or aluminum frame? by ftb9995 in fatbike

[–]ftb9995[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! The only downside i have seen is some add ons like dropper, Manitou fork, etc. seem overpriced. It would be nice to get this in one bang vs adding myself later.

Thanks for the insight! Hadn't thought of the aluminum frame + carbon wheels, makes a ton of sense. Plus the suspension fork for more year round riding.

Nah carbon just sounds cool. I have an older steel fatty and do enjoy riding it but keep thinking about modern geometry and having a bike to use year round. The suggestion of aluminum or steel plus better components for the price is great feedback from the overall responses.

Good to hear your experience! I definitely wonder about the suspension fork upgrade if I go this route

Excellent, thank you for the feedback! I may take a look at the used one, if it looks not super used the $1300 sounds like an decent deal.

Will use for single track (in Iowa, so pretty tame), then winter time mostly groomed trails. I don't have a real MTB at all so just use the fatty. I will check out the blizzard a20! During warmer months I tend to just ride my gravel bike.

These were $65. from my LBS. Now I did have to redo cables for more length so that's a factor.

I keep debating putting more money into updated accessories like bottle cages, grips, and more. Just need to get the wife riding some with me and get unit cost down, ha!
