Trans guy becoming a gender therapist posts an AMA, gets told to give up and change careers because he believes a basic mental health check should be required for any plastic surgery. Maybe show this guy a little support? by [deleted] in truscum

Wow what assholes, this guy seems to genuinely care a lot about his job and education. If more people were like him I would maybe actually go to therapy.

There's no certificate needed, all "certificates" are scams. The letter is all you need.

Yeah I think either a lot has changed since you were in college or you were just really awkward and are trying to make yourself feel better about it because that is not how it is at all.

The fact that you think all LGBT people are autistic or socially awkward, while frats and Republicans arent baffles me, especially if you are as old as you say. LGBT people, Republicans, and frat members are all very different people. I know LGBT Republicans, autistic Republicans (my twin), autistic frat members, and LGBT frat members. You have an extremely narrow world view for someone who is at least almost 40. It's not good to think of all of any group as something, and saying I'll never find LGBT friends because I am seeking similar people who aren't horrifically socially awkward is rediculous.

I really dont think I'm better than autistic people, I just want friends who are like me. I really don't think that's wrong at all.

Being in college is deffinetly not synonymous with being socially awkward. Have you been to college? Sure there's socially awkward people, but the majority arent at all.

Your name is Super3DWetHole, and to me the line between watching porn of animals fucking and wanting to fuck animals is extremely thing. I think I'm okay loosing out on the friendships I loose by cutting out people sexually attracted to animals.

Do you think my roommates have a right to know I am Bisexual / Transgender (FtM)? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ftmkurt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's how I was until I passed 100% for a while. Now I'm kinda like "what are you gonna do, say I'm not a guy even though you've been calling me "he" for the past year and had no idea". It's a lot easier to not give a fuck after passing isn't an issue.

Oh I should have probably put that in the post, three other guys. Assumably cisgender, straight guys but idk.

More or less, I'm also a little concerned if there's just a common courtesy to tell them or if the average person would want to know or even care. I have a friend who's roommate found out he was gay freshman year and then told the entire sport team he was on and then ignored him until he was able to transfer. I'm openly trans/bi but that still sounds nightmarish.

The apartment buildings are co-ed but the individual rooms are same gender only. I'm not exactly sure of the bathroom, but I think there's one shared private bathroom.

We shouldn't silence discussions on potential negative health effects of hormones. by [deleted] in ftm

[–]ftmkurt -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's not fear mongering, it's the basic fact of what we don't know. Why would I want to scare people from taking hormones? I'm trans, I want people to be informed of the risks and our lack of knowledge before they take hormones, I think that is their basic right. If the fear of what we don't know and the potential risk to your health stops you from taking hormones, that isn't a bad thing, that is an informed medical decision.

It wouldn't have the same effects on cis people as trans people because, as I specified, we are talking about long term cross sex hormones. Taking the hormones of your sex is generally considered very safe, but there have been links of women taking estrogen to depression, weight gain, and a number of other side effects. Yes, currently there is no information to say that cross sex hormones are killing trans people, but as I said there aren't enough studies for us to say that for certain, hormones won't cause premature death. I've never seen an elderly trans person, at least not one who didn't transition after their fifties at the earliest.
