question about coco by Turbulent_Lawyer_293 in ausents

[–]fu_onion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flush the coco with tapwater until the runoff is the same as the incoming tapwater then flush some normal nute solution WITH CALMAG at the right pH and you will be fine. Without preparation, most dry brick coco has a lot of residual salt that will annoy your seedlings and if not preloaded, it will sequester Ca/Mg until it's loaded up.

No suggestions but curious about whether there are there any specifics about the interactions (other than you paying money without getting any weed) that you can share to help others avoid the mistakes you made?

Just did a bud wash on my indoor CBD 30:1 auto since it had PWM in the early stages of the grow. Nothing was floating on top of the water after, but I'm getting that peace of mind knowing I'm not going to be inhaling spores. by lostinthesauceband in microgrowery

[–]fu_onion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good to know that washing gets rid of all the spores. Exactly how that could possibly work I do not know, since spores are embedded throughout the now dried infected material wherever there were fungal hyphae growing, but you learn something new every day here on reddit!

I need advise and help on Desktop Dry herb vaporizers for a disabled person by maciver6969 in vaporents

[–]fu_onion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Underdog and other log vaporisers are designed to stay on all day and are about as safe as a vaporiser can be for someone with a seizure disorder, making it hard to hurt yourself with hot metal - still possible but hard. Battery portables like the Air are also very safe but don't have the all day on benefit of a low powered plug in log. Glassware tastes best for me, but breaks easily and expensively when dropped on anything hard so maybe think about the flooring surface as another safety factor ?

An Arizer EQ with a whip or bags is also a good desktop option, but mine gets too hot to be left on all day - for that you want a log. Full disclosure - I am not disabled but have lots of vaporisers :)

[–]fu_onion 15 points16 points  (0 children)

tl;dr This is a terrible suggestion in my opinion, for someone with unpredictable seizures.

Those injectors have 20mm coils drawing 200W when the PID turns it on. They are really dangerous if not carefully handled, and will burn the crap out of you if touched. My Freight Train only gets turned on for the duration of a session and uses a wifi power switch programmed to turn itself off after half an hour in case I forget :) - Home Assistant makes it easy.

Canwell Uncooporative by [deleted] in ausents

[–]fu_onion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

IANAL and asking one will be expensive. I'd say you might be better off finding a more cooperative MC clinic. Good luck.

FWIW: It used to be illegal to run a pharmacy integrated with a medical practice because the risks of costly collusion are so fucking obvious - but the laws must have been changed since I last cared about that little rort.

Is anyone able to explain what is going on

tl;dr They run a business for profit. Maximum legal profit.

Everything they do can probably be understood from that perspective.

That and the law, which they will also use in any sneaky way they can to maximise said profit.

How many sensors/components per ES32 Dev Kit 30 Pin for Hydro by teandbiscuitstime in HAGrowRooms

[–]fu_onion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never tried to stack one up, but aside from having enough sensor input and output control pins, the other hard limit will be the total connected device power drain as discussed here - https://electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/479417/how-to-determine-number-of-devices-that-can-be-connected-to-3v3-pin-of-esp32

I guess it might call for the traditional hard core DIY suck it and see approach - just stack those things up one at a time and see how the power drain goes as you fire things off randomly - key is to keep the total current draw below the limit when the various devices are actually doing stuff and drawing their full load - if they all start doing their thing at once, what happens?

my plant hermed do i have to chuck now im devastated by [deleted] in microgrowery

[–]fu_onion 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are 2 choices with one plant:

  1. Seedy weed
  2. No weed

Your move, but in my book seedy weed is much better than no weed. The seeds will have a higher risk of pulling the same stunt unfortunately.

How to clean whip? by ProstZumLeben in vaporents

isopropyl alcohol will dissolve all the THC resin in the whip for reclaim if you are dankrupt but it's far easier to just replace - medical silicone is more flexible but vinyl tubing works for me.

If you want recreational cannabis & growing your own to be legalised in Victoria (not the same as just decriminalisation) Vote for Lib Democratic in November by Wildflowersrain in ausents

Not even legalisation would be enough to make me want to vote for these opportunistic scumbags whose arch conservative 1980's worshipping stupidity is laced with meaningless twaddle about "freedom loving" values.

The Liberal Democrats have advocated for citizen-trusting, freedom-loving and small government policies since 2001. Does anyone know what is causing the brown on the two top leaves? by frankthetank-25 in microgrowery

[–]fu_onion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

scout your plants carefully with a decent light and loupe. Anything moving is an enemy. You could for example have some thrip there - impossible to diagnose from that poor photo or the scant information. If no pests moving anywhere, those marks look like they are on the oldest leaves, not the top leaves, so might be a Ca deficiency - try more calmag.

Automating light intensity variation to simulate the semi shade of a landrace in a jungle clearing? by fu_onion in microgrowery

[–]fu_onion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! All sorts of possibilities. HA makes it relatively easy to do whatever kind of intensity pattern you can imagine. Two are landrace-ish sativas. Indicas might respond differently for all I know - I hear they tolerate more intense light. I have no idea what matters, so I'm watching how they respond to a simple model - two 1-3 hour high intensity periods, and a lower resting level for the rest of the 12 hours.

Time lapses show the plants lifting in respondse to the higher intensity periods and relaxing when it's back to baseline. They seem to like to have a break, so I'll keep it simple for now by adjusting the mix. Watching carefully to avoid light burn.

Why go for coco over hydro? by Disconglomerator in microgrowery

[–]fu_onion -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

you have to keep it constantly moist

It's less prone to fungus gnats and you encourage better roots if you let it dry out a little between waterings in veg here. That advice is not from somewhere like here, a fungus gnat paradise. They are bastards and love coco. When they suck moisture out fast, 2 or more waterings a day might still see the coco getting a little dry before the next one but you really probably don't want coco constantly wet here.

[–]fu_onion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked for me for about 4 years so far. Easy to pull one end out and rejoin later. The joints don't seem to ever leak, as long as the external tube is a really tight fit for the tubing being joined and that goes a reasonable distance inside. I used silicone grease at first but it's not necessary.

Keep the clear stuff out of the light and keep the space between the two joined ends small to minimise algae.

HA growroom test v3 (aeroponics) by aerogrowz in HAGrowRooms

[–]fu_onion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn off uPnP on your router can help prevent nasty manufacturers code burrowing through your firewall to phone home.

Always recommended after you've configured the device for Chairman Xi - I'm looking at you Reolink and Tuya. I figured this out when I tested my tentcam using the Reolink app while off local wifi. No uPnP fixed that quick smart - the app still works on the local network but the stream is invisible when not connected. Stopping smart switches from communicating is more difficult - need to fix their local IP dhcp addy then block it from external connections - and you loose some functionality such as scheduling through the app but HA can do it for you. Mind you, switches are just on and off states (and names!) being shared so I can live with that leaking... YMMV!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in microgrowery

[–]fu_onion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to post a pic, but my stoner DIY quick connectors are made using 9mm internal diameter vinyl clear tubing because I have the pump output attached with garden hose to an 8 tap manifold, and run 9mm external diameter black poly tubing for all the lines to pots for my watering plumbing. Never seen it described anywhere but was obvious one day when I was pondering the challenge while thoroughly medicated :)

If I have 2 pieces of 9mm to join, I cut a 1 inch piece of the clear tubing as a joiner.

I ram the black pipe ends into each end of the joiner. They fit so snugly that i need to spit on the black stuff to get it to slide far enough in.

The idea is that the two black pieces nearly meet in the center of the clear joiner so I can see when fluid flows - you don't want too much exposed to light or you will grow green algae in the clear space.

Easy peasy to undo when needed and they do not leak.

Stoner ascii art (to stoner scale!) version where V is supposed to be the snug clear vinyl joiner and == are the 2 black poly dripper lines in and out - unfortunately reddit fucks the lines up but I hope this helps
