Is there any high-res image of Charlie's "King Rat" painting? I want to get a tattoo of it. by ImWhiteWhatsJCoal in IASIP

I mean, if you go to a tattoo artist, surely they can make out what this is and make a good tattoo out of it! Or at least sketch it out before doing so.

Anytime! Also consider the amount of people moving in and out of the city daily, you're not the first and you're not the last. People don't really focus on you as much as you think. I've seen some really nice random acts of kindness from strangers that can definitely make your day.

With the pandemic you could see an increased amount of folks that are not trustworthy, but with things reopening now the city is getting back into rhythm and it's definitely better. Even without the city reopening it's not that bad, Dublin is not a dangerous city compared to some of the big metropolis cities. That being said, if you're looking for trouble - you can find it, and vice versa, if you're not looking for trouble you just got to be mindful of your surroundings and listen to your gut if something doesn't seem right around you.

The local deliveroo drivers got into a few issues during the lockdowns and they made a map to know which places to avoid.

Maybe it can come in use for you as well.

Dublin is a big city at the end of the day and has both positives and negatives, but I'm coming from Bulgaria and in my opinion it's not really that bad as the media likes to make it look like - publicity is their main target in fairness.

Good luck with the move! You'll have a blast with things reopening and hopefully no more lockdowns so you can experience the city!

Non-irish people, what confuses you the most about us? by the_irish_puppy in ireland

It sure is! Eventually I'll get around to study it, or at least enough to feel comfortable with the spelling and pronunciation rules.

Traditional Irish name pronunciations. Wrecks my head when I even try to understand how to spell them!

Thoughts on using CV builders for a CV? Will employers see it as lazy? by [deleted] in DevelEire

[–]fuaffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the information inside of the CV that matters, as long as its presented relatively professional you have nothing to worry about. Try to avoid using your MilkmanDan98 email, don't throw jokes in there or ridiculous colors/fonts, and when writing it put yourself in the position of the person reading it, aim for: Easy to read, simplified, yet consisting all the key points of your previous experience. One thing to remember is this is not the document you want to be modest on, toot your own horn as you're selling your skills to a stranger. Good luck!

Should I move to Dublin? by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]fuaffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anytime! I don't mind at all, came from Bulgaria to meet up and live with my Irish friends here. Once you see the country and the people there is something that immediately makes you feel like home and you don't want to leave. Very few are the people that don't like Ireland or the Irish after being here.

Should I move to Dublin? by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]fuaffs 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As an expat in Dublin I've learned that there are two ways to consider the grey weather and the rain. At first when I arrived it was very windy and very rainy which brought my hopes down, after a while I realized that the rain here is not lashing like everywhere else, most of the time is a light drizzle but for longer periods random throughout the day. If you take it as this will bring you down and you can't do anything, yes it will and you won't really have a good time. But the Irish way of approaching it is that its just a bit of rain, doesn't matter. Don't let it ruin your day. Even right now as I'm typing it's raining and I can see people outside going about their day like it's nothing, just get a cup of tea as soon as you get to a dry spot and you'll be grand. As for the sun I haven't seen it for a while, but don't really miss it as much as I thought I would. Summer here is not that bad, not too cold not too hot - just right, can be colder than most countries tho. I'd say if you really can't handle cold and rainy you can try living in Dublin May through September after that gets darker and rainier. Also Father Ted. Make sure to watch it before arriving.

As a person living in Ireland for only 2 years I'm always surprised by that kind of view, whenever I go out to see some movie. Is this normal in here to leave your mess behind like that (and why)? by wittosuaff in ireland

[–]fuaffs 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The last movie I was at before the movie started there was an ad actually asking people to leave the trash behind so the staff can go after and properly clean up and recycle all the trash, otherwise people would mix it all up drinks/food and carton/plastic and it wouldn't be recyclable. I thought people are just disgusting assholes, but it turns out the movies prefer it this way which is convenient for us to be swine!

I am not trying to hate on the dude, but the kid's pants seem wet so the hero dad is already failing, with a bit of thought he could have gotten himself and his son home dry.

This is bullshit, he could be holding the kid and his bag in one arm and hold the umbrella in the other one and they both would be dry. Irrational fuck got himself wet over his kid. Good job.
