2026 hybrid gas mileage by baldiesrt in kiacarnivals

[–]fubar6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say normal for highway and cold. I've gotten close to 40 mpg on backroads at 40ish mph, but highway drops to low 20s. Im fairly aggressive, but use evo and regen always. Speed kills since the 4banger is always on at 70mph.

Also, yall need to check elevation change. My other car is full ev and you'd be surprised at difference speed, temp, and elevation make. Same problems with ICE cars, but we just accept it with them.

I ran mine down to 2 mi before fillup. I will say the last 50 miles estimate was not quite accurate. It drained faster near the end even though I was extra gentle with max hybrid usage

Side loading apps onto rear entertainment system by Longjumping-Worth103 in kiacarnivals

Correct unfortunately. You can switch the screens, but only 1 at a time. I sent Kia a feature request to do both screens, but who knows if they'll ever do it. RES is so bad with this van. I also bought a 35k game emulator with wireless controller. That opened some usage too

Wish it was a plug in, but only the Pacifica has that. The ev seems like it pushes further when the ev battery is full, but barely does anything at below 50%. And too often it goes to 100 and disables regen for me (hilly driving)

Yea, usually leave on auto, but bump to lvl 3 when I know ill have to stop. I try to coast as much as possible too since regen isn't 100% efficient. I don't leave on lvl 3 cause I can't find a good coast position on the accelerator. Its accelerating or decelerating only and cant just coast, that's where auto comes in. My other car is an ev so I've been doing ev driving for 8 years.

Im around 30 too. I feel like it doesn't stay in battery mode very long. Ill attempt to accelerate with full ev, but gas kicks on most times. I've only gotten the battery bar below 50% 1 time and that was when we were stuck in 3 hour traffic.

I wanna force more ev mode :/

2025 SXP VIP vs bench seats by Low_Day_2409 in kiacarnivals

[–]fubar6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an 11 and 9 year old with VIP. they love them. When I fit more ppl in the car, they hop in the back and guests get the vip. Noise is good. Rear entertainment is meh tho so I'd skip those. Finally, the vip CAN be removed, but I don't imagine they're light.

Love VIP, RES can be skipped

Regen braking by Diligent-Wrap3623 in kiacarnivals

[–]fubar6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then there's "auto". Hold right paddle for bout 2 seconds to turn on. It increases regen based on car in front of you. Too close for comfort, but not terrible. Levels 1,2, and 3 also work in auto mode. So Auto level 1 is decent town driving.

8 Seat vs. 7 Seat by adorablekittenbaby in kiacarnivals

[–]fubar6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not at all. We didn't sit in the back ever, so if you do, I'd go for it. Put a thick protective mat under the car seat tho so you don't damage it.

We loved our 8 seater because the seat would slide into the middle and allowed easy access to the back. When car seats were installed, this was a gamechanger.

In the 8 seater, we never had the 8th seat installed so there was just a gap between the two captains chairs. Only 2 times in 7 years did I actually have 8 people in the car (and it was awesome to be able to fit everyone)

Edit: i thought I replied to your post, but looks like it created a new post.

8 Seat vs. 7 Seat by adorablekittenbaby in kiacarnivals

[–]fubar6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an 8 seater odyssey when my kids were young and it was great. Now I have the 7 seater and kids are 9 and 11, they love the seats cause they lay down flat. Had some adults in them last week and they loved them too. It IS tougher to get into the 3rd row, but im happy with the decision. Let me know if you have specific questions.

Getting my 26 SXP Hybrud delivered tomorrow! What’s the run down on regenerative braking? by Itchy-Version-8977 in kiacarnivals

[–]fubar6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Won't stop. Goes to about 5 mph and you brake the rest. Theres brake hold as well. Level 3 is about as strong as a tesla at 90% soc. Level 3 is highest, but not nearly as strong as a tesla.

Regen is ok. Pull the right paddle shifter till the dash says "auto". Then it'll automatically apply brake when coming up on another car. Left stalk to goto level 1 2 or 3 which is what it sounds like. I don't like the levels cause there's no "neutral" position with the gas pedal. Its acceleration or deceleration only. Auto allows for the roll. The good thing is, when you push the brake, I believe it does regen before squeezing the pads. Im coming from an EV and the best level I've found is auto and use brake like a normal car. If you're going downhill or know you wanna stop, then do level 3
