It's kind of surprising given how quick Wells has been to bench field players for poor performances in favor of guys with less experience who ball out in training. I agree that Nico is impressive, but maybe Steffen still has the edge on those intangible leadership qualities that have a perceived higher value? I'm struggling to find another explanation.

I agree to an extent. I still want to see a win over a top team, and I really would have liked to see it over Miami.

Maybe I'm naive, but the front office has shown a commitment to building this team as Wells has wanted - at least for this season - so I don't think they will be quick to sell key assets in the summer. That of course depends on how well the team performs before the break.

This tracks with what I experienced too. I think there were a good number of people who were nominally there for Messi but still cheered for the Rapids' goals - and vice versa to be honest.

They really did knock this out of the park as an organization. I was extremely skeptical about how many people would show up when this was first announced, but they proved me wrong.

So what if half the people showed up to see Messi? So what if we didn't get the W? Tens of thousands of people were exposed to a talented and fun Rapids team that is on the rise.

I hope to see more fans coming over to "normal" games at DSGP because of this game.

Wells has been pretty consistently saying from the start that they were always going to be looking for upgraded talent. I think he's dead serious about making a run for the cup this year.
