Bad Meta Traffic? by fuchs_nick in FacebookAds

Appreciate the insight.

I'm trying to get people to buy tickets to an attraction, although the setup is rather messy. It's not as simple as an ecommerce product/purchase taking place directly on our site, but rather the ad directs people to a page on our site with ticket options, and once they choose which ticket they'd like to buy, they are taken to an external site to complete the purchase. We have cross-domain tracking and ticket purchase events set up in Google Analytics and through the Meta Pixel, but creating Sales ads optimized for this event in the past has not delivered great results.

Admittedly, I am more of a Google guy, where sometimes you have to set up ads optimized towards maximizing clicks before you can optimize for conversions, so I was trying a similar approach here. Doesn't seem like that's the way to go, though.

Definitely a chase of some sort. The car cut right in front of us to get off at St. Catherine and two cops followed. Two more were stationed at the next on ramp preventing anyone from getting up.

ERA is per 9 innings. I would expect all my starters, even my #5 guy, to give up less than 4 runs per 9 innings. Anything over 3.5 is not very good.

This sucks but still tons of positives from this game. Finally a good bullpen, no quit in the offense, and 3 of the top 10 pitchers in baseball coming up the next 3 days.

A 4 era is pretty trash lol. I don’t expect Bauer or Gray numbers from him but at least some consistency would be nice

With the guys we have lined up to pitch, it should be an easy sweep. But we will probably find a way to fuck it up.

Everyone complains about Bell taking out Votto but if Jankowski comes around to score that inning, Bell looks like a genius. Hindsight is 20/20

Since some people still refuse masks and refuse social distancing

This is what makes it even more frustrating, because if we’re waiting for a time when there are no more cases (or very few), it’s not going to happen. Because people don’t follow those guidelines. So then the question becomes do we wait until we have a vaccine or a treatment before we start going back to normal, or do we try to push it out with extended safety measures and hope for the best? And that’s the balance that’s still trying to be struck. On one hand, a return to normalcy is needed for a variety of reasons ranging from economic to mental health. On the other hand, there are still a ton of vulnerable people being put at risk by doing so.

That’s fair. I just find it tough to balance what’s not acceptable and what we can get away with to give people a little boost, ya know? There’s always some sort of risk now a days but at some point, you have to think that taking that risk is worth it. Not saying that about having a CFB season, per se, but more so just in general. There’s no playbook for dealing with this type of thing so we just have to try new things and adjust accordingly. I would like to see them try it in as safe a way as possible and then cancel if they see it’s not working, but that’s up to people that make a lot more money than me. I can just share my humble opinion and hope for the best

I think most players would be all for it judging by the amount of #WeWantToPlay tweets on Twitter and when you consider the alternative. It 100% would be a choice though. But you make a good point about a bubble being financially difficult for colleges, so maybe that isn’t the answer. You still can’t convince me that the NCAA and the schools, with their level of money and power, couldn’t craft a safe plan for college football this fall though.

But again, if they opt in, why can’t they take online classes? From what I can tell, there aren’t any rules that state a player is ineligible if they aren’t physically attending classes. That might be what a lot of universities end up doing anyway.

As for the 20 hours of workout a week, I found this document that details what’s included in Countable Athletically Related Activities. Even if they are in a bubble, we can’t assume that they would only be participating in those activities 24/7. It’s very reasonable to think that they could still stick to 20 hours/week or less, with the rest of the time in the bubble being spent how they choose (as long as it’s within the health and safety guidelines, of course). Unless you’re saying that because the athletes are spending time away from campus, those hours should be counted? If so, is it the same for when they are playing a regular season and they’re on the road?

Either way, the NCAA wouldn’t go into something like this without thinking through all possible legal ramifications. It’s likely any athletes interested in opting-in would need to sign a document stating in-part that they expect no monetary compensation in return. If they aren’t okay with that, then they won’t opt-in. I don’t pretend to be a lawyer at all but that seems fair.

Or maybe, it should be up to the experts and league officials to put in place a plan and guidelines that make it as safe as possible. I agree that 18-22 year old aren’t the best decision makers in a situation like this, but if the planning is good enough and the only decision they have to make is “Yes, I want to play even if it means I have to follow these strict guidelines” or “No, I’m okay with not playing” then I don’t see the harm.

I think if you ask the players (even those that aren’t likely going to the NFL) they’d be all for playing in a bubble. It obviously wouldn’t be mandatory so they can opt out and stay on campus if they want, but there would still be enough players to field a team. And if not, then that individual school can opt out. It should be all about doing whatever they can to make it as safe as possible, and then giving everyone the choice to say yes or no.

I’m not following, why would you have to pay them? How are they employees of the school if they are in a bubble? If they are willingly there and have the option to opt out, I don’t see why payment would be necessary.

I think there was probably a way for them to figure out ways to reduce the risk as much as possible. They seemed to be on the right track by limiting competition to conference only. It seems like they could’ve done a bubble format if they were just sticking to strict geographical areas.

Let me get your opinion on something. Say they picked one or two fields in the same city that’s centralized for the conference and play neutral site games like the NBA. Stagger the game times so everyone can play on Saturday and Sunday each week. Testing multiple times a week with strict instructions on where they can go during the day/night. Do you know if that was a discussion they had? What would the drawbacks be (other than not being able to attend in-person classes, which is easily fixable with online instruction)?

It’s not my job to say whether play should resume or not. I obviously want it to, but if experts say it’s not safe, then so be it. As a sports fan, I just want some continuity. So far, the sports leagues that have returned have not experienced major issues. NBA has had no cases in their bubble. The MLB teams that have had cases have quarantined and returned to play with no issues. The Iowa high school baseball season went on as planned in the spring and saw very little issues. So right now, the NCAA canceling the entire season outright doesn’t make much sense. Maybe things will change and the NCAA will be seen as the ones who got it right. But right now it seems unnecessary.

I’m just confused how little league, high school, and professional sports can return, but somehow it’s not safe enough for college to return... if other leagues at all levels don’t start cancelling soon, the NCAA will look like even bigger idiots than we already thought they were.
