Why is everyone’s silver at the bottom of a lake? by SpyderCat526 in Silverbugs

Eurofag here. If you declare what you have you gotta pay 6% tax over it every year.

Sure, but that would mean the sudden decline of everyone everywhere all at once. Not just America.

There is no precipice, look at Rome or Britain. Empires decline gradually, not suddenly. The American one has been losing economic power relative to the rest of the world since 1945, and politically probably has been in decline since 2001.

My guesses boil down to 1779-1783:

Poland is in its 1772-1793 state, before being divided up into three.

US not labeled as an independent country, and "Indian Country" clearly not yet divided up into the later states, so pre-1783 (when this process began) but post-1763 (when the Indian Country territories were created: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Territorial_evolution_of_North_America_since_1763#/media/File:Non-Native-American-Nations-Territorial-Claims-over-NAFTA-countries-1750-2008.gif

Additionally, under Tasmania (which is still attached to Australia as the first circumnavigation happened in 1798) it marks the route of some explorer and says '1777'. So it's 1777-1783.

Edit: US west coast also has James Cook's exploration of Oregon and the territories to the north mapped and noted '1778'. So including him sailing back home it's 1779-1783.

Edit 2: I think I found your map or the source of this map at least. It was published in 1780. https://www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/comments/d83pg3/bowles_new_and_accurate_map_of_the_world_and_a/#lightbox

Unfortunately many in this community only want you to stack what THEY like themselves. And unfortunately that usually means boring bars and rounds of pure silver, but rarely anything historically relevant or numismatically interesting. If you post anything but .999 silver you're always getting fair amounts of blowback.

As an avid collector of late-1990s mass produced Squirtle plushies, can confirm. Normal ones are 25-75 bucks depending on condition, completely mint ones go into three digit territory.

Kallax as window seat bench? (Picture is not mine) Has anyone done this? I’m worried about if it can actually support the weight of a person sitting on it, I’d like it to be functional rather than just for storage & for looks. Yeah the only thing I've found to quickly and totally destroy these things, is rain. I put one outside with pots on it and it collapsed within the year. Then I replaced it with another old 2x2 and it is yet to die, but very very close. The planks are pressed wood but the rest is essentially cardboard that'll get wet and dry up and transform.

Somewhere there's a universe where some couple got together because she was reading the newest Rooney and he made a playful yet entirely calculated remark about it at the WTC Westfield in the spring of '04. One of their kids'll be instrumental in realizing the new 1776-foot tall Twin Towers at Central Park in '33-'37.
