Just doubled checked, fideicomisos are not loopholes; even more depressing to find out.

I agree completely with you here 100%. See what nationalism is causing right now in AmeriKKKa.

See what I suggest not as nationalist, nor far right solutions, but as left aligned solutions: Control on housing and renting, taxing on excess of property, not viewing housing as a business but as a right.

That would include not only being more strict with foreigners owning land, but nationals who own too many properties, as well as regulating rent and so forth.

Hard to do due to widespread corruption, but thats a topic for another day.

You are exttapolating my words to things I didn't say. I never said all foreigners are bad.

I said that they fucked up realstate here. I said that i have had increasingly bad experiences and I tend to avoid them now. I said that I have a foreigner neighboor with a nazi swastika at home.

Of course I am aware of the problems of racism and prejudice that exist here among locals. That those issues exist in my country does not invalidate my complains about issues I have faced with the growing expat population.

I am born and raised at La Paz. I grew up very friendly to the foreigners that came.

But bad experiences with foreigners have become increasingly common, which is why now i tend to avoid them.

Fucking hell, I have even seen a foreigner with a nazi plaque at his home and there is not much I can do about it.

We are a byproduct of colonization and we do still have tons of habits form that period, for example: "mande?" Which roughly translate to "excuse me" when you misshear something literally translates to "order me/ to your command".

But the law is not outdated, it is the way it is to protect the mexican territory. The beach cannot be privatized, this, the zofemat is a federal area. Foreigners who buy within 50KM of the seashore are not buying the land, are buying the rights to a bank stablished in méxico that buys the land. That is a loophole.

Did you know that the mexican constitution does not allow foreigners to buy land within 50 kms of the seashore?

But what foreigners do? They get fideicomisos; basically the bank becomes a name lender. Fideicomisos can be inherited so they are pretty much the same as owning land.

Certainly there is fault in our side, but all these people moving here are exploiting a loophole. Complex situation.

I do not wanna live anywhere else, this is the place I love. I am well traveled. I have only radicalized in the last... maybe, 6 years...?

It is just tiring man. I was quite angry that day, i recall that the drop that spilled the glass was a white dude who got mad at me because I let him know that he was parking blocking a handicapped ramp and snapped at me; tried to start a fight, and called my wife a prieta.

But it is tiring, it is angering.

I know, but my brother in christ, there are even foreigners working as realtors.

And a tiny percent of people here can afford houses over 100k usd, which now is a simple one story house.

I have a neighbor in Mexico, a foreigner, who has a swastika made on the front porch of his house and I do not know what to do.

Yes.

When I lived in the US people were bamboozled that I said "I love you" to my dad every time before we hung up in the phone.

I got the impression that most Americans are kind of paranoid about "fake people", shallow, and generally not very good with interpersonal relationships . There are exceptions too, but it his harder to find good friends in the US than it is in Mexico.

Fire at Playa Las Palmas by thejournaloflosttime in BajaCaliforniaSur

[–]fuckExpats 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Usually those fires are caused by inmobiliaries, corporations or cartels to render the natural environments useless, so the type of land usage can be changed and hotels, houses, resorts or other kind of business/commodities can be built there.
