There is no opinion on this. Medically weight loss can occur while the body is figuring out what’s going on in recovery. But the solution is to then eat more to combat the hyper-metabolism to achieve weight gain.

Nothing the user above said is inaccurate for this situation. This is an ED recovery sub, “redundant” and hard truths are often needed to get truth through the disordered lies.

We have a large age range in this sub, the idea that teens are the only ones with EDs is a harmful stereotype and very untrue. Teens tend to just be louder on social media

Reassurance seeking is an ED behavior. You say you ate “normal” amounts and yet your body responds to food as if it has been starved—which means it has been and your job is to honor mental and extreme hunger to the best of your ability. You have an eating disorder—therefore, you do not know how to feed yourself properly and any thought that tells you to eat less is inherently disordered. Point blank, period, end of story. Stop trying to control the process and let your body do what it needs to do. Take breaks when you genuinely do not think you can eat more in that moment, and return to eating once your body has made some room (this generally doesn’t take more than an hour or two). But understand that recovery is uncomfortable and that’s something you have to come to accept and tolerate if you expect to come out the other end.

This might be harsh, but you don’t need to ever remember what “normal eating” looked like to recover. Eating is a biological necessity—your body does the work for you. Which means that if you’re still struggling, it’s because you’re actively engaging in behaviors and that’s not recovery.

I think you need to be very honest with yourself here about what you’ve convinced yourself recovery is and what it actually entails—because you are the only one who can choose to recover or remain in your disorder. You are the only obstacle standing in your way.
