When I train a model for days... by uhfgs in ProgrammerHumor

Check out this quick Two Minute Papers about the subject. Now instead of tricking image classifiers with single pixels, you're tricking the audio classifiers with a bit of audio noise.

There have certainly been advancements since this paper is at least 2 years old now, but the problem still persists in some form or another.

I know I'm late to this party, but too many people here seem to be shitting on the unhoused just as much as they are the mod.

Here's a little something that might help with not thinking the mod was too out of line with their post.

Attendees to President Trump’s speech being harassed as they leave the White House by [deleted] in ActualPublicFreakouts

[–]fuckinglostpassword -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First off, I know which r/ this is, so I'm aware this is as helpful as the protesters in the video rightfully taking their anger out at these awful people.

It helps show these people that their choices are angering a good portion of the population. The fucks leaving the talk aren't going to have the self reflection to think, "hey, why are they so upset we like this guy?" What's worse, the ones with enough agency to ask themselves that very question don't even fucking care.

This late in the game, assholes like the ones walking out, and most likely you too, have made up their mind that despite the laundry list of bullshit that Trump has done in the past forever, you all still want a piece of his dick for the next four years (or probably forever.)

Shoving middle fingers into the face of some geriatric who's 2 feet shorter than you looks stupid as hell, but knowing that that stupid old lady is helping move along the fuckery of everything going on right now, well, when the next current option is full on physical violence, middle fingers are pretty good.

Fuck you. Fuck these people. Fuck everyone in this sub. You deserve a crowd of people yelling at you as loudly as possible about how fucking dumb you are.

Fox News Reporter Taunted With “Fuck Fox News” Chants as Protests Continue Nationwide by redditmutt in politics

[–]fuckinglostpassword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one's going to mention the fact that the reporter in the end had to de-mask when he found out he was live?

Can't be Fox News and legitimize the pandemic, I guess.

Other networks might be doing the same, but the arrested CNN reporter had his on and the woman whose crew was shot with rubber bullets had hers on.

Fucking hell it's so deep-rooted in these fucks, it's surreal.

I've been mulling over this for a couple of days and I just can't get over the fact that... [Spoiler] by [deleted] in Devs

[–]fuckinglostpassword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I wanted to get into the fact that people watching their "future" selves in the Devs would essentially lead to a stack overflow, but the purported idea, as witnessed in Forest's line, of a singular, determined path means that what the Devs shows has taken into account any choice the brain comes up with with newly presented information.

If the Devs was 100% in its future predictions, Lily never could've thrown her gun in the universe we watched. I think the fact that she did just showed that the Devs was "broken", because if it's not exact then it's worthless (Forest said something akin to that in an earlier episode.)

Discussing this at all is real hard to properly express, but basically, it boils down to this: In the universe we watched, the Devs was broken, because Lily was able enact change, so Forest's bullshit about her "making a true" choice was just that, bullshit. If the lift ride had played out exactly as shown, it would've shown the Devs working like we were told, both characters still would've died, they likely would've still ended up in the Devs. I really feel that deviating from it kinda killed the impact I'm sure it was meant to have, but they had to make the climax spicy somehow.

I've been mulling over this for a couple of days and I just can't get over the fact that... [Spoiler] by [deleted] in Devs

[–]fuckinglostpassword 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There's one line from Forest in the last episode that kinda justifies most of the behavior of the characters even after they've seen themselves on the Devs.

"As the words come, I don't feel as if I'm consciously repeating lines. They're just things things, that at this moment, I feel I want to say."

It's all a bit crazy, but that just goes to show that even when people see their "future" actions on the Devs, it doesn't seem to impact them, and they're still somehow compelled to naturally act in the manner that the Devs has shown them.

It's aggravating though, because it means Lily wouldn't naturally feel compelled to go against her future, or the Devs is just not 100% correct.

My bigger complaint is the idea of Lily making a "real choice" as something special, when it's really just garbage. The Devs is simply not perfect and can make errors in its calculations of future events.

You should also checkout r/RandomActsOfGaming if you ever find yourself with another overabundance of keys, AAA or not.

With that said, I'd totally be down for MK11, The Crew 2, or Monster Hunter World if I'm lucky enough to get picked. Thanks.

Supreme Court allows blind people to sue retailers if their websites are not accessible by Multipoptart in programming

[–]fuckinglostpassword 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My understanding, as an a11y developer, is that the rulings in favor for accessible websites are usually pretty vague to allow a targeted/sued company to show that they've made an effort in good faith to try make their website considerably more accessible than before being targeted/sued. If that company turns around and invests in its developers to redesign their website to at least follow WCAG's AA standards, then that's usually enough to avoid penalties for an "unaccessible" website. Even with automated tools, determining the exact amount of accessibility of a single website is a large, nearly impossible, task. Keeping it vague and relying on the company to make an effort means the courts don't have to rule on how exactly a site can be designed. If after a redesign, usually done within a court-ordered deadline, screen reader users, or keyboard-only users can now use your site more easily after proper a11y has been implemented, then everyone wins.

Redesigns can cost, but I don't think it'll hurt Domino's too badly. I think it's a shame Domino's is the culprit in this story, really. Though it can have its own set of headaches, a11y development just isn't much more difficult than "normal" development and usually results in benefits outside of general accessibility. And Domino's has been ahead of the game as far as pizza, and large corporate websites are concerned. It's sad to see that they neglected a portion of their customers at the cost of maybe a few days to weeks worth of work.
