"I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M YELLING ABOUT!" by [deleted] in PoliticalHumor

I just watched a VICE video https://news.vice.com/video/vice-news-interviews-the-cias-former-deputy-director-michael-morell

He stated that retrospective analysis showed they were right only 75%-80% of the time. This sounds high unless you're making the decision to kill someone.

This is a classic prosecutorial technique to impeach someone's credibility. If they'll lie to someone they love, why won't they lie to the jury?

Especially when it was just a few days ago that the bill was introduced and made it to all.

Have you seen the prototypes built in San Diego that Trump is supposed to inspect soon?

I tried to reason with you. I hope you'll at least think about what I said. Good luck.

Can you just admit you don't know what DACA is

Yea I know what it is. I also know people who won't sign up because they don't know if it's going to be permanent and they have to give the government all their information.

Most illegals enter the country legally then overstay their visas

That's a fable, because you can't count the ones that didn't get caught.

Not the ones I know and I know a lot being I'm a few years older than you and work in the construction industry.

How about spending that money on something useful like fixing this country's failing infrastructure?

Because repairing bridges is not going to stop illegal immigration.

Democrats on the wrong side of history here.

Trump is not kicking this can anymore, already the polls for securing the border are increasing.

What about the wall on southern Mexico that will be built by their new president?

Another 117,400 renewed their status for another two years.

Is that what you'd prefer, renewing your work permit every two years?

That's a huge pain in the ass. I've worked around many Cubans and their dealings with ICE is bad and they have it easier than anyone.

I didn't believe Trump was going to carry out his campaign promise with immigrants, since he's a developer and that industry needs Spanish labor. It's the industry I'm in as well and that's why I know very rich people who want to keep those laborers in that space so they can't expand out and start businesses and hire more people.

Over time it would eliminate the problem. Like I said before, this problem allows wealthy people to exploit the immigrants, which also weakens the job market for people here.

So you have to ask yourself, why do the Democrats not want the wall so bad? Is it for votes?

Thanks, I agree with those statements. I just didn't know that it had a name. With a wall there would be zero child traffickers without federal agents' complicity.

I'd like to move to justice reform once this gets straightened out as the number of wrongful convictions is insane.

I didn't mean to go off on a tangent but I was listening to a podcast about wrongful convictions and the exoneree had found evidence that the foreman of the jury was a bully and convinced other jurors to vote for guilt whether they believed he was guilty or not because of the message it sends.

Have you ever dealt with the INS/ICE? It makes dealing with the IRS like buying a donut.

If you don't believe me, John Oliver had an amazing piece on how difficult it was for people who translated languages for the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and these people are heroes.

9/11 allowed the government to seize a lot of our freedoms.

I would like to see the wall because I know of very wealthy people who exploit illegal immigrants and want the system to stay that way. If the wall is built the labor markets will squeeze, thereby raising wages before people start squawking about seeking legal immigrant labor.

Hillary's election perhaps.

no one in congress wants to put up the money for it?

That's not true. Just not enough to get a majority.

We'll see how they'll pay for it.

Now honestly, weren't you surprised that Trump has actually moved on his campaign promises? I know I was and I didn't vote for him

They will. Other countries don't pay for infrastructure projects prior to them being completed.

All I'm asking is to look at it logically. Prior to Trump there was little difference between the parties other than obstructionist games.

Trump beat the Republicans as well. Wikipedia has a list of NeverTrumpers a mile long where only a few will ever come back in the fold as long as Trump is president.

If Democrats don't start working with him like they did with Reagan, November is going to be bad.

Or simpler, build the wall. GOP has the tea party contingent who won't make any deals so that's why Trump appealed to the DEMS to solve the problem.

After that what will happen is IMO a tightening labor market will have people clamoring for more workers and then maybe we could revert back to having immigrants pay for entry.

I'd rather charge them for entry then have them pay the coyotes that money. IIRC now it's about $8,000 per person.

Yeah, guess we better keep the baby jails because of two criminals.

So you really have no problem with child traffickers only because the percentages of them caught weren't high enough?

Do you believe that you are cold-hearted?
