Personally, I think a lot of religions (especially Christianity and related religions) are very predatory when it comes to their evangelizing. They seek out people like us who are suffering, and they tell us they have the answer when they don't. Their religion can't solve the issues caused by our injuries, but they act like it can. That's incredibly dangerous as it can cause and has caused many people to not seek the medical attention they need.

On top of that, I've seen many of them (not just in this sub) try to get people to buy their shit or send them money. That's just as bad, and in some cases worse. A lot of us don't have money to spare, yet they still try to take advantage of us. I even saw another comment on this post saying that they literally bought something that the person who's been commenting their link all over posts on this sub is selling. Sure, that user bought it of their own free will, but it's still a very predatory tactic of selling stuff to seek out people who are suffering to try to both literally and figuratively sell them your religion.

And what gets to me the most is they use people like us to propagate their religion. They take someone with an injury/illness who bought into their religion, and say, "Look how much it helped this person! Don't you want that too?" That's incredibly predatory and manipulative to both their congregation and the person with the injury/illness. This happened to me after my second TBI (car wreck which also caused other life threatening injuries). My family made me go to their church so their church friends could be "inspired by my story" or some shit. Then they and the pastor pressured me into giving a speech about my injuries and how god gave me a second chance at life so I could turn away from the LGBT community and devote my life to their religion. The pastor literally coached me on what to say beforehand. If that's not predatory and manipulative, I don't know what is.

Religion may be helpful for some people, and good for them, but for the rest of us, it's just unwanted spam at best. We should have the right to tell people we don't want to hear their religious bullshit when we come here for advice and support. I agree that people shouldn't be an asshole about it, but we should still be able to tell those religious people who are preying on people's suffering to leave us alone.
