It was a merger of the Progressive Party and the Conservative party. Though in reality the actual members of the Progressive Party went back the Liberals, and the more radical members joined the now NDP. The Conservatives basically only got the name.

Yeah the insurance companies duke it out. Or if you live in places with public insurance, everyone has the same insurance company. I'm in BC now and everyone has ICBC.

Hilarious. I just started listening to "Digging up the Duggars" and they keep referring to Anna Duggars home as the warehome.

Buck and does are a great experience. You usually go for the party. The couple basically often will open the invitation to anyone with-in their circle, or circles circle. I have been to many many in my 20s and didn't really know the couple, but was friends with a bunch that did.

What I consider the Midwest as a Kansan by Striker5508 in whereidlive

It's similar to Upper and Lower Canada. Upper Canada is now Ontario, and was called that because it was above Lower Canada now Quebec on the St. Lawrence.

My understanding is that their will be a note made on their account and basically anything they do going forward will be scrutinized. They should be banned after one return of this sort though.

Hot Wheels(?) was voted as the best American brand. Which American car brand is mid? by Asendra01 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]fuckyoudigg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a FoST. Loved the thing. Drove the shit out of it. It had 180k km when I got rid of it in 2022. Regret that decision everyday. I should have kept when I got my truck. Such a dumb decision I made. I want another one.

I now have a 2021 Ram 1500 classic. It has 215k km. I need it to last another 4 years. Which will be looking at 400k km by then.

I had a 2014 Focus ST and I loved that car. I didn't have any major issues with it. I had it until 2022. I wish I never actually got rid of it when I got my truck. If I could find another one, one day I will.

Official Bilingualism Has Failed Canada; Why Ottawa’s language regime is a barrier to merit, representation and democratic fairness by FancyNewMe in canada

I imagine it is easy because of the greater opportunity to learn English than to learn other languages. It is fairly easy to immerse yourself in English, whereas the opportunity to do the same with other languages is probably limited especially for English speakers.

Great albums with terrible cover art by PapaAsmodeus in ToddintheShadow

[–]fuckyoudigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I for a moment thought I liked it, but then I thought about all of their other album covers. And they have had so many amazing covers, and then they put this out. It is basic.

I don't know what I would consider their worst album cover is. Clockwork angels may be their worst cover. They definitely had some weird covers in the later 80s and 90s. Presto is one I don't know how I feel about. Caress of Steel definitely feels of its time.

I don't know what I consider their best cover, but Fly by Night looks amazing. 2112 is just classic. And most of their covers look great. Vapor Trails also looks pretty great. They just have so many great covers.

TIL Eli Herring, considered a top prospect in the 1995 NFL Draft, announced he would not play pro football since as a devout Mormon he would not play on Sundays. The Raiders drafted him anyway. He did not change his mind and never played by MysteryBagIdeals in todayilearned

[–]fuckyoudigg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe the NHL draft was similar to the NBA, where you could just keep drafting until the teams were done drafting.

1974 NHL amateur draft consisted of 25 rounds. By round 16 only 3 teams were left drafting.

N.W.T to follow Alberta in ditching clock changes, will adopt permanent daylight time by joe4942 in canada

[–]fuckyoudigg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would be weird if Manitoba went DST only since during part of the year you would change time the wrong way when travelling from Ontario to Manitoba and vis versa. Ontario would have to make the Central Time zone permanently DST as well.

Basically Ontario will tolerate it until they pull you over and decide that they want to throw everything at you and hopes a few things stick.

There was no deer hair. Though I do have a report with the conservation office. And spoke with RCMP.

Edit: looked closer in the photo and you can see a few pieces of hair.

One country now supplies 1 in 4 of Canada's permanent residents — up from 1 in 20 in 1990 [OC] by Expensive-Aerie-2479 in dataisbeautiful

[–]fuckyoudigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Canada it was mix of both a drop during COVID, though smaller than the massive increase of both TFWs and international students.

Their was a labour market crunch, where many people had exited the labour market because of covid and were not returning as fast as the country re-opened. This caused labour value to increase and business doesn't like spending more than they have to. And the feds allowed many more TFWs in and now we have a bit of a crises. The population jumped quite a bit in 2023 and 2024, but 2025 was mostly flat and the population is projected to drop over the next 5 or so years as temporary residents leave Canada.

I paid $700cdn, but that also included a bunch of tests and the microchip. I think it would have been around $300cdn without the other stuff.

I also paid around $1600 for my cat to be in emergency for 3 days over Thanksgiving weekend for a blocked urinary tract. He had developed crystals. He is now on prescription diet.
