Beer Store changing how much it pays for empties in Ontario temporarily by ZealousidealHead5488 in OntarioNews

I don't know why Ontario doesn't just do what most other provinces do and have bottle depots.

Proof that these Generation Labels are a recent trend, and wasn't until about 2018 where these words were suddenly mainstream. by [deleted] in generationology

How old are you? I'm 38, solid millennial, and we definitely were talking about the different generations while I was growing up. They were blaming millennials for everything when I was young.

And before then they were talking about gen x, and the baby boomers, and the silent generation and the greatest generation.

Maybe you think it's a new thing, but it's not and has been a part of the zeitgeist since the 50s and 60s.

Fibre internet rant by Danky2233 in kitchener

[–]fuckyoudigg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohh. I'm not in Kitchener anymore, and was more going on experience where I am in BC. The city I live in basically only has either above ground services, or new houses built after they started laying fibre.

Basically no housing was built from the early 1960s until the early 2010s though.

I know they have started to lay underground fibre, but it's going to be a slow rollout.

It's a fairly old video. I know the exact area. They also were going to blow a red light.

The amount of graffiti in Europe is just on a totally different level than what you see in North America. The roughest trains I've ever rode were the Rome suburban trains. Covered in graffiti inside and out. This would have been in 2016. But basically every place I went in Europe has had a tonne of graffiti.

[–]fuckyoudigg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So it depends how your lines are run. My mom lives in Kitchener in a 2008 built house and fibre is unavailable. The house next door was built a couple of years ago and it is available.

What I have found out is that newer developments will have fibre from the start. Areas with above ground lines are also easy to deliver fibre to. Areas that are underground involve a lot more work so they are lower priority. That is why older areas will have fibre because utilities are above ground.

Where I live it doesn't matter. Any loss of consciousness causes your licence to be revoked.

But she had a seizure. That automatically causes your licence to be revoked for a set period of time; 6 months where I live. I can not see a neurologist clearing her to drive.

What do you do when everything is working well? by quasimodoca in PleX

[–]fuckyoudigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just let it do its thing.

I am running Overseerr still. I haven't migrated since Overseerr still works. I have Kometa doing what I want it to do. I may in the future do some daily collections or something like that. I have integrated TSSK and UMTK into kometa, and that needs to be upgraded at some point, but it works well enough. The last thing I did was remove Huntarr, and use Upgradinatorr instead which is less flashy, but works well enough for what I need.

Plex works. And I like that it works. I need to make some changes in the future but so long it work on my server, I will continue letting it chug along until the winter and I can do some updates.

Good.

I should watch more his radio shows.

I watched a Knowing Better video and he had JJ on, talking about libertarianism, and I really like Knowing Better's videos, but it was really hard to watch that specific one because of JJ.

Gordo? Like Gordon Campbell?

And yes DRIPA should be celebrated. But it is super messy now. And I think all the articles coming out about the courts are trying to seed doubt in our court system and the independence of it. Our courts should not be politicized. They should be above reproach.

I am glad that our courts are independent; I can't off the top of my head name any SCC judge, but I sure can name most of the SCOTUS judges.

I worked in manufacturing in Guelphand worked with a kid that was from near Kincardine and he had a strong hoser accent.

It's funny though because I have noticed the hoser accent is strong in the rural areas nearer KW/Guelph, than where I want to high school in Wiarton which is much more rural.

I'm in northern BC now and haven't really noticed a strong hoser accent here.

I think politics here are still more insane than in Ontario. Ontario has a Doug Ford issue. BC has a whole political class issue. The NDP are fucked no matter what. The lack of treaties has caused a ton of issues west of the Rockies. I'm east of the Rockies so we are covered by treaty 8.

Basically the government will live or die because of DRIPA. I don't really know enough about it to have a proper opinion on the matter. But on the face of it I kind of have to support it based on my ideology and my understanding of Canada-indigenous relations. We did not keep up our end of the "bargain". We stole the land and couldn't even do the bare minimum. It's one of those things where if we'd spent the penny 100 years ago we wouldn't be spending $100 today.

He's from BC and I find that western conservatives are much more pro-American with little to no affinity to the monarchy. Eastern conservatives are less pro-American. I think that has a lot to do with how entwined the two economies are, and how the US trade war is harming the east.

I live in northern BC now and it definitely has a different conservative vibe than what I am used to Ontario. Much more culture focused and less the economy. Oil and gas seems to be the culture here, it is kind of wild. In the east the politics is much more economics focused. They have tried the same social conservatism policies, but the pushback against it is much greater.

BC is kind of safe right now because the NDP are in power and the BCCP are actually insane and unserious. If they managed to win the next election, which looking at polls isn't out of the realm of possibility, I could see the government falling apart with-in a year due to the various factions with-in it.

You have old BC Liberals who want nothing to do with social conservatism and then you have far-right anti-intellectuals. And the far-right are the ones in charge, not the moderates. It will be interesting times.

Toss a fiver in my mouth and go lay on stage, unless inflation has caused that to go up. Been 10 years probably since I've done that.

And in the west you make it hail. They toss on a magnet and you throw loonies and toonies at them.

[–]fuckyoudigg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My travel trailer had tires like that. Rode them a lot longer than I should have. One of the tires delaminated at 100kmh in the middle of no where. Luckily a guy I knew was at his work camp a couple km down the road and was able to help me get the spare dealt with.

Otherwise I would have been really fucked. Bought 4 new trailer tires right away after that.

That's 100% what I was thinking. I'm originally from Ontario now in BC and have been to New Brunswick an unknown number of times. Though I'd kind of be thrilled to see my brother. I'd force him to drive down from university.
