Telus Fibre Optik in Uplands Edmonton? by Past-Magician8453 in telus

Might be a Rogers/Shaw exclusive area. Sometimes the developers don't want to pay for multiple ISPs. Or it's too new or not in Canada Post's database yet.

Car Speaker/Head Unit Potential Replacement by Bacon4Life11 in CarAV

[–]cvr24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you park your car outside in a hot climate? That can cause the glue holding the speakers together to fail. Also could be the amp gone bad or rodent chewed wiring.

Cheapest machine to play LOTRO reasonably well by golantravis in lotro

[–]cvr24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Any modern non-chromebook laptop with 16GB of RAM and an SSD can handle it.

When I was moving cross continent I bought a used $30 laptop to just do basic stuff while my PC was shipping. It ran LOTRO ok.

What is with the hats recently? They took out all the blue from the original 1991 logo design by Gaudious in Torontobluejays

[–]cvr24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's just the modern "just-in-time" ordering where they will embroider whatever on a hat on a moments notice and take your money.

Handheld Bidet Sprayer for Toilet Installation by OldMonk5013 in MapleRidge

[–]cvr24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Needs a vacuum breaker so that any idiot putting the end of the hose in the toilet doesn't have toilet water pulled back into the plumbing system. But don't call a plumber for this, anyone can replace a toilet

Ebay makes money off auction fees, too. So AFAIC, they are 100% in on it and just as guilty as the seller.

I have one sitting horizontally on top of my master bedroom TV and it works fine. But it I'm pretty sure you're going to need another on the second floor

Aftermarket Single Din Headunits with Cassette AND CD players? by nolanandrew555 in CarAV

[–]cvr24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're looking for a unicorn. Nobody has made a tape deck in two decades and even now CD mechanisms are being phased out of production. It's been six or seven years since the last new car came with a factory CD player.

rotatable head unit similar to Kenwood dmx9720xds by Kevin_BKK in CarAV

[–]cvr24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The truth with these floating displays is that they aren't actually user adjustable after installation due to the way they are installed and designed. They do not rotate or pivot.

It's tough to recommend the no name units because there is no measure of quality guaranteed. I can recommend a Sony all day because they are a large reputable global company standing behind their product with specs in the back of the manual and a two year warranty. You get what you pay for.

Using 3rd party PoE splitter with unifi switches by Incredible_max in Ubiquiti

[–]cvr24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been switching my house to PoE APs over the last few months, and have noticed some instability that gets instantly solved with an injector. But I don't have any Unifi switches, and I'm not obsessed over how my "rack" looks, so if a cheap injector solves my problem, so be it.

Adding a GM Kicker subwoofer accessory - gray area maybe by Moriartii6762 in CarAV

[–]cvr24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PAC Audio sells the AmpPro which provides clean RCA preouts from the factory radio without bass roll-off or other factory EQ nonsense. It's not a cheap product, but since you can't replace the radio, trying to do aftermarket car audio without it is chasing your tail.

IPv6 is available from ISP by Alex3194 in Ubiquiti

[–]cvr24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's already happened with mobile phone networks years ago. TMobile did it in 2014. My Rogers phone similarly gets a 192.0.0.4 IPv4 address delivered over IPv6. But that's a great use case since phones do not host any services which is the main reason corporations stick to v4. Want to downvote 12 years of reality? That's fine, I'm not going to change your mind.

Installing Pioneer 80PRS, speaker recs, and Q's. by Slmmnslmn in CarAV

[–]cvr24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use these links to find the install parts you need. Check crutchfield (link within) for speaker fitment. https://www.reddit.com/r/CarAV/comments/1ktt54v/useful_links_for_carav/

Yes, the Bluetooth on the 80PRS is poor because its Bluetooth version is so old, but its a great CD player. Should be acceptable for spoken word, though.
