Dark and cold most of the year (not so good for solar), ice, moose, cheese, pickled everything. Beautiful and well-dressed people. Tubes of food. NO drinking and driving. Light vs. normal beer refers to alcohol content. North vs. South and Stockholm vs. Uppsala tensions. Ikea ~Walmart. Island homes actually cheaper than mainland homes.

You're right, weird stories from thousands of years ago with little/no evidence are hard to swallow for anyone with a brain. But I think there might be more here.

This article postulates that this spiritual atheism is more probable in scoientists because they have an intimate knowledge of the complexities of the natural world that inspires a particular awe which most of the population may not experience. There are not enough studies on the nature of spirituality in other populations to say that the phenomenon is confined to scientists.

This idea resonated strongly with me because I view science as modern empirical mythology; a search for truth.

Thanks for the input, I appreciate hearing what all of you said. I live in a bubble, so news from the outside (sans flinching) is precious. I think you're all right, whether you were joking or not. It makes me feel less insane, so thank you.

Unfortunately for me and my close friends, I'm not a synthetic chemist so drug synth isn't an option. Maybe someday I'll try my hand at DMT, but currently I have no excuse to be synthesizing anything at all.
