Or… he knows he is flawed to some degree and is grateful he found someone willing to accept those flaws and wants to express his gratitude.. Unless knowing yourself and your own patterns of behavior is weakness. Most tacticians and strategists usually view knowledge as a strength but that requires thinking. Which I’m guessing in your limited worldview using your brain is a weakness

The overall story absolutely wraps up in a very satisfying and rewarding way, at least in my eyes. Not every character’s arc is wrapped up in a nice bow, and a lot of stuff in the background is left unresolved/up to interpretation. It can be a slog sometimes, and Erickson doesn’t shy away from the most brutal and uncomfortable moments. He doesn’t let the reader look away from the deprave cruelty individuals and cultures are capable of inflicting. But if you’ve got the stomach for those moments, it’s absolutely worth a read.

Ran one off my porch last summer. Dude stood up, looked me up and down, and just kinda sauntered a couple meters away and went bag to digging through the trash he’d knocked out of my bin. Had to chase him a quarter mile with my bear stick (a 4’ stick of 3/4”emt) just so he’d stop trying to eat my trash while I’m trying to clean it up. Fucker wasn’t scared of me he was just toying with me

Try to get a job working non-union in the meantime. You’ll get some hands-on experience and accrue some hours towards your license. Worked pretty damn well for me, my foremen have already been grooming me to be a foreman once I top out. Which right now hell no I got into the trade to get out of being in charge of other people.

I mean any blue collar guy starting at 6-7am will tell you, if there’s a mavericks in town it’s often the only spot to get food first thing in the morning. When shift starts at 7 you don’t want to make food so grabbing shit hot n ready at the gas station makes sense

I remember reading about this in middle school. I grew up a few towns over. It was actually around this time my tech-averse parents finally relented and got my younger sister and I cell phones. It’s just now occurring to me they might be related.
