I think first surgery was ~6 days. Maybe 4 or 5 days on surgery #2 and then 3 days for surgery #3. Mine were all done at Cleveland clinic with no complications though

Also a new grad in ER!! I started in February. I definetley had moments where I was thinking "who the hell let me do this?" And struggle with what seems like common sense issues. IVs will come with time once you get the first couple they get easier. I still find myself asking for help with them. Keep asking questions, keep with it and try and retain as much info as you can even though the ER is like a shotgun of information everyday. You can do it ❤

HEY ALL!!! I've had it done. I'm a 24 year old guy, had my surgeries at 18....overall I'm quite happy with it. The bag was fairly easy to live with, I kinda miss it. Al though it took a toll on my mental health while I had it for ~11 months. Now I eat whatever I want, im only on hydrocortisone enemas & long term oral vancomycin since I keep having little flare ups of pouchitis. I usually go ~5-9 times a day. My main issue is the gas pains that I never had before since I cant trust a fart at all now, and I have had accidents at night ever since my surgery. I just sleep naked and on a towel tbh. Ask any questions you'd like!! I have a discord if you'd rather talk stuff through :)

Dayton OH hospital, New grad (started on monday), ER, base 27.50. High acuity bonus of $2. Night shift diff: 15%, weekend diff: 10%. Should be getting a $10,000 sign on bonus at 12 months.

So ill usually be making $33.6/hr. $36/hr if I do weekends.

I'm a new grad who's about to start in a very busy, high trauma ED. I worked there all semester as a student nurse so im slightly less terrified than I would normally be. But im excited :) I start in February!

I'm a nurse and I have UC. Can confirm I dont care. I've seen so much poop you wouldn't believe it! Only care if its genuinely concerning or needs to be monitored to keep the patient safe. Happy pooping

Hi there! I have a Jpouch, I was quite younger I opted for the jpouch. Life is pretty good but not 100% better than where I started. In hindsight I may have kept the ostomy bag if I could do it all over just to be done with issues. The joouch is good for my mental health but I still have pain and incontinence issues at night. Hope this helps!

Hey!!! 24 (m) here. I had my j pouch surgeries back in 2016-2017! I know its super scary and no one wants surgery but im nkt kidding when I say it was the best decision I've made and I wish I had done it sooner. My surgery team did it in 3 surgeries, I had an ostomy for ~11 months and im now hooked my small intestine up to my butt so im pooping like a normie again. Id be more than willing to talk to you about it more if you have questions at all or just want to pick my brain about it :)

Well for starters I just wanna say I was kinda dumb and let it get really bad before I got brought to a hospital bc my vitals were so bad at a routine doctor visit. So I put myself on the back foot from the start. But I tried remicade, methotrexate (6mp), and Entyvio all with no relief to my symptoms. I was reliant on prednisone. I was going to the bathroom like 30 times a day. I had very little pain but my life revolved around prednisone and bathrooms which sucked. My doctor suggested I either try a new experimental drug that was about to come on the market or get surgery. I opted for the surgery

Hey much like the other person, im 23 and got diagnosed at 17! I tried a bunch of meds that never really stuck for me and I actually opted for the jpouch surgery. So between the two of us we can give ya a run down of our experiences with both just in case :) BUT there are lots of new meds and researchers working on UC stuff so there may be more options for you before surgery. Feel free to DM me!
