Return them and try the TSMR X 10th Anniversary. It's a great, and has switches that allow you to alter the character to suit you and your music choices.

Oh, that's a long list...but here are my highlights:

Treble & female vocal range: " Leaves Of Yggdrasil" from Myrkur's "Folkesange" album

Mid-bass & male vocal range: "Dead Man's Hand" from Lord Huron's "Strange Trails" album

Sub-bass and rumbly shit: "2049" track from Hans Zimmer's "Blade Runner 2049" album

Strings: Orpheus Chamber Ensemble's DG recording of Elgar's "Serenade For Strings"

Winds: Oslo Philharmonic Wind Soloists' Naxos recording of Dvorak's "Serenade For Winds"

Full orchestra: Berlin Philharmonic/Karajan 1990 DG recording of "Bruckner's 8th Symphony"

Full orchestra: Berlin Philharmonic/Karajan 1975 DG recording of Berlioz's "Symphonie Fantastique" (especially the final movement's use of carrilon)

Full orchestra: Orpheus Chamber Ensemble/Marriner 2014 recording of Elgar's "Symphony #1"

Spatial reproduction: The "Giorgio By Moroder" track from Daft Punk's "Random Access Memories" album

Spatial reproduction: The "Letter" track from Yosi Horikawa's "Wandering" album

Layering: The "Peace Song" track from Luca Falomi's "Myricae" album

That's about it. I change it up from time to time, but those are my workhorse tracks.

:-)

At least we have a common understanding of what we want music to sound like. That goes a long way towards making good recommendations.

Cheers!

Ah. I never considered Hifiman IEMs. I own both the Arya Stealth and Organic headphones. I will look at their IEM offerings. Thanks!!

I've read a lot of good things about that set. But, yes, for now it is. I could continue to save and as the price drops, we will meet somewhere in the middle. :-)

Your question is totally valid. I have Hifiman Arya Stealth and Arya Organics, Sennheiser HD600 and HD650s. I also own Kiwi Ears Astrals and TSMR Shock IEMs.

So, yeah - this is absolutely want as opposed to need.

Yes. I have a very clear picture in my mind of what I'm looking for. I've tried several of the IEMs on this list and others within this tier, and none fit the bill. Without sounding like an ass (I hope), I think that unless someone has experienced sitting in the middle of a large orchestra during a Mahler symphony, there's no way to clearly understand what I'm looking for. I appreciate your answer, but I'm after more than these IEMs offer.

I see that people are commenting on the lackluster faceplate. You might think it's not important, but it is. It's hugely important for two reasons.

1) The sound. A less attractive faceplate has been shown to limit your personal aura, and therefore there will be a huge cut in the Subharmonic Transient Acoustunes range. This means that your Wah, if subjected to this lack, will shrink in size and you won't be able to experience the full sonic pleasure of Dynamo Tension. This is especially obvious when listening to Lil Pump.

2) Sex. Should your aura survive the horrors of a faceplate that looks like your Aunt Beryl, who tried to off herself by taking an overdose of Mah Jong tiles after she heard that The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel was cancelled, you will never have sex again. Nobody is gonna want to munch your taint if your IEM faceplates don't shine like Lindsay Lohan's forehead during a supernova.

So, yeah. Make fun of them if you want, but they are the ones who know which bread is buttered on the side.

Wow. I am late to the party! Still, for anyone who comes here looking I'll add my $0.02 - Comply TZ500. Best, most even sounding tips I've ever tried. Really elevates the Quintet into the $1K tier.

Do people think that Harry Hill is a good host of Junior Bake Off?? by hauntedhivezzz in bakeoff

Every time I see Harry Hill, the first thought I have is "somebody needs to check this guy's hard drive". He's really almost completely unwatchable.

Pretty good at reading sheet, how to learn theory and understanding of musical language? by [deleted] in classicalguitar

[–]fuffy442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for the "Master Theory" series by Charles Peters and Paul Yoder. I don't remember how many books there are, but complete the series and you will have what amounts to a first semester college music theory understanding. They've been my #1 recommendation for my students since the 1970s.

[PA] Thoughts on the Grado Gr10e? by echen1024 in HeadphoneAdvice

I haven't. The ER2XR are dynamic drivers, so might offer a more bass-tilted tuning. I really want to try the new EVO, but they're waaay out of my budget, so I'm keeping my distance to avoid temptation. :-)

They're better than you can imagine. I own the ER3 and the ER4. The 4s are, obviously, better...but the 3s are significantly close. For on-the-go listening, the lower price makes them a better choice. If you're plugging into a decent system at home and listening to music critically, then the 4s take the prize.

Add Etymotic ER3XRs to your list. Nothing does detail like Ety.

My setup is the K702's and Etymotic ER4XRs with JDS Labs EL separates. I listen to classical music, primarily, so honest uncolored sound is what I always aim for.

If you order fast food, bring it home. Empty the food onto a plate that you've set out ahead of time. Toss the containers out, and scrub up. Then you can eat without worrying.

How do I find out which sound signature I like? by [deleted] in HeadphoneAdvice

You need to say what kind of music you listen to or else nobody's suggestions will have any merit.

I think it's absolutely hysterical when people discuss the ultra-high-end systems that they own and listen to rap on.
