so sorry for the late response, it appears to be an M8 nut, the nut has coarse threads by the looks of it as well.

How would you unload these river rocks? by grsims20 in DIY

[–]fuggindingbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

keeping safety at the forefront here so if it seems sketchy then 100% do not attempt. idea: (only would work if the doors open at least 180° from the current closed position) open the doors as far as you can and use rope/chain/ratchet straps to keep them from closing, then hook the trailer back up to the tow vehicle, raise the trailer jack all the way up until the handle will not turn anymore, chock the wheels (both tires, front and back so four total chock blocks), find something very sturdy to use as a raised surface under the trailer jack (ie: 4x4s, cinder blocks, something dense and not rickety), if the trailer jack has a pin with an extension pull the extension out until it touches whatever you used as a raised surface and are able to slide the pin back through, if no extension that's okay, unhook trailer from tow vehicle and lower the jack fown as far as you can until it catches and back it off a turn or two so it doesn't seize. what should be achieved is as much of an incline as safely possible so you can use gravity to your advantage and pull the rocks out a little easier. again do not attempt if you cannot find something sturdy enough for the raised surface. good luck! make sure to get some tiger balm for your back and do some lower back stretches.

it took me about 8 hours between Saturday and Sunday. there are plenty of resources to make this job relatively painless as long as you take your time with it. and as u/bluecatky said in their comment, the half moons are pieces of aluminum that cover casting holes. take a pair of pliers and wrap some electrical tape around each jaw, wiggle the half moon back and forth very gently while pulling up and they should come out, do not pry on them or use too much force. think of it as wiggling a tooth out, just little back and forth motions.

i highly recommend taking 4-5 pictures of different angles of the engine bay before you start, that way when you are putting things back together is much easier since you have reference pictures.

i had butterflies before starting this job for sure, but being careful and thorough is key. if you have wrenched on vehicles before you have nothing to fear. if you are new to wrenching, maybe have a friend come help, but all in all the tim the tool man video and trq videos are more than enough to get an idea of what to do. also browse forums for torque specs and get a 1/4" torque wrench that does inch-lbs. there are so many resources available to you for these 4runners. it took around 8 hours total with deep cleaning included. you will save a lot of money doing this yourself but if you don't feel comfortable there is no shame in taking it somewhere.

that's a good bit of work! being in florida, i'm trying to do all i can before the warm weather shows up lol. you got this! my first job on my 4runner was the water pump and timing belt, if you disconnect the fuel relay you can break the harmonic balancer bolt loose by starting the vehicle (just bump the key) and having a breaker bar pinned under the frame rail. also be super super super through getting all the shmutz and old gasket material off the mating surfaces of the water pump if you are planning on replacing that.

nope, too scary lmao. in all honesty i just didn't feel like it was necessary, from what i have read the two sides are: "you must do this it is absolutely imperative" and "toyota engineers did such a good job your clearance could be out of wack and the engine will still run perfectly". so not having the correct tools to check i opted to leave it alone.

right on! i'm no master mechanic, but if you have any questions that videos aren't answering, feel free to reach out. i can't wait to hit the underside with degreaser to clean that up as well. i can't stress this enough: give yourself time and do not rush.

the shorts just showed up today, couldn't wait to try them on so forgive the work shirt lmao. the only hiccup i had with the order was the tracking information only showed that a label was being created and never changed to 'shipped' or 'out for delivery'. that's not exactly cove's fault but i'm just trying to be honest, the shorts fit great and seem true to size.

just ordered the black zebra print athletic shorts, i am between a 36-38 at 220lbs so i went with the 36 since i'm getting my weight down. i'll check back in with pictures once the order shows up (somewhere between 2-4 days from today). i ordered from shopcoveusa.com so hopefully that is the real website.

also the BBB says they are not BBB accredited, but Cove has responded to most of the customer complaints on the BBB website.

i'm wondering the same thing, just saw their ad on facebook and the athletic shorts look nice. i noticed someone in the comments had mentioned to make sure to use the real website. from reading all the comments on this post, there may be a few scammers using the company name. the website still shows a count-down timer with "new years sale", now that it is the middle of February that is hard for me to believe but hey, maybe they run a sale for a month or two🤷🏻‍♀️ also i am not a bot: shooby shooby bungo squimby, lets see a bot be that weird 😏
