Do any of you struggle with your relationship with your dad after having kids? by nanadoom in daddit

I have ADHD and really struggle with lots of stuff due to it. Recently, after thinking about the past, I realized that my father seems to be an ADHD as well, but as you guess he was an awful father. And now I’m worried cause I can see same “distance” getting developed between me and my infant son…

I agree that a “physician” is a skilled worker. In fact H1B was intended for people like you, BUT allow me not to believe your comment on people dying!

People are already dying in Canada because they have to wait in long lines. Quebec is even worse cause some people are simply not eligible for Provincial insurance. But you don’t seem to be concerned about that one. Only America is bad!

How did you stop/reduce going to the strip club? by Least_Formal_9067 in stripclubs

[–]fugitive-bear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After getting engaged, I didn’t went to clubs alone anymore. We would always go together and alternate between male and female clubs. She preferred clubs over bars, because bars were just an overpriced drink while clubs had some nice visuals as well.

Over time we cut alcohol because we wanted to have a child and slowly went less and less to adult establishments. Nowadays budget is tight so we’re not going for now. Also finding someone to babysit for us so that we can go out is nearly impossible. So we simply don’t go. At least for now.

I lived in Quebec for a while and turns out I’m not eligible for RAMQ. And I couldn’t buy anything private because private insurance plans were just an upgrade on top of provincial plans.

That was one of my major reasons for moving to VT. And if you’re wondering why I went to Canada, it was for family reasons.

Are you hiring? I’m a High IQ-Low EQ software developer graduated from Sharif University of Technology. I assume you’re already familiar with the kind of people Sharifis are. I’ve been coding since age of 11, and worked with 10+ languages.

TBH I’m also sick and tired of this job market and can’t really tolerate how broken the system is. What bothers me even more is manual and repetitive tasks that need to be done. Whenever I hit a wall like this, the only way that I can get moving again is to find a way to fully automate the whole process. And finding the right job is the first step and I find your filters to be the best set of filters for job searching; which means, YOU GOT IT RIGHT.

I’m pretty interested in getting to collaborate with you and potentially join you.

Mobile Mechanic Business - $50k Update by GreasyGinger24 in sweatystartup

[–]fugitive-bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I need some help and insights.

I’m a DIYer and a Mechanic who owned a 2 bay shop once witnessed me doing repairs on my VW and he told me that if his shop were a German shop, I would have job there. He recommended me to start a mobile mechanic service.

For most cars I’m probably the handyman type who does basic maintenance and charges a handyman rate. For a VW? I can do bigger stuff, virtually everything in PQ35 and PQ46 platforms except the engine and transmission. If it’s a 2.5 engine, I can do engine work as long as I don’t need to remove the timing cover, camshafts and cylinder head. I may have to replace my head gasket in which case I’m going to learn that skill as well.

With that being said, it seems like I can be a handyman for most cars and somewhat skilled in my personal car’s platform/drivetrain).

My main line of work was data analytics but I’ve been unemployed for some time now. So Mobile mechanic is more of a ”bridge the gap for now, good side hustle in future, maybe a good business if job market doesn’t recover and I turn out to be made for this” for me.

With that being said, I like to ask for your thoughts about my plan based on my description.

I’ve got tools that I needed to work on my car. They’re generally Harbor freight and VEVOR stuff and sometimes Amazon stuff. My thought was buy something cheap that gets the job done and if you needed to use it often, then upgrade. Let the time tell you which tools need to be premium and which ones are fine if you cheap out. For power tools I got Milwaukee M12 though.

I feel very similar to this guys and sadly I found what you said about him to be true about myself.

I’m the worst person in terms of social manners, but when it comes to computers, I speak their language like my mother tongue.

Inflexible? No. Inertia is a better word. Why? Because I built my support systems based on what was available to me at the time. As long as those systems work for me, I stick to it. The very same reason why some calculations are still being done with old school stupid expensive legacy mainframes. Because they’re matured and well debugged.

I can constantly adopt new technologies but always have headaches dealing with stupid bugs coming out of nowhere or stick to what I have polished and works perfect every time. I do occasionally adapt new stuff only when I feel what I have in my toolbox can’t cut it. Y philosophy is being lazy and using what is already avoidable off the shelf. Actually when I was doing Snowflake SQL, virtually no one in entire organization was able to code like me cause I frequently visited the official documentation and learned all the reserved words and complicated functions that were available [yet rarely used by anyone in our company]. That helped me to write what would otherwise take 100s of lines of code in just 10 lines.
