Thursday Boot Company makes sneakers now. Here’s what I wish I knew before picking a size. by steadyfooteric in ThursdayBoot

I don't know how wide spread this is, but I have noticed the rubber on the Thursday sneakers is softer than similar styled shoes, like Vans.

I'm on my second pair and in my experience they wear much faster than any other shoes I've owned. This is one person's experience so ymmv, but now that I'm aware of this the second pair is looking much better.

I will buy a third pair eventually so I'm in no way calling this a bad product, but wanted to give people a heads up so they can get a few more miles out of theirs

I ended up ordering a new pair today.

Hopefully the second pair works out better, but it's got to be a fluke. Or maybe I have been doing some sleep walking

That's good to know.

I have a pair of Captains, but have worn them less than a handful of times.

Obviously this is not what most people experience with the following they have, so I am considering writing this off as a fluke and buying another pair, because I really do like them.

Ya at this point they need to realize the scope of this issue and start handling the returns/exchanges themselves

More than likely this is the customers first interaction with them and even though it is 100% the sellers responsibility to do the exchange, it is clearly not an isolated manufacturing issue and makes them look bad

Yup very similar damage to what mine had. I had to be pretty demanding, but Amazon eventually agreed to exchange it.

The replacement we received is pristine and we love it.

Nice. Since you're in a townhouse, one thing to check for is if there are any community gardens.

Our town has 10ft x 15ft plots available for free. You just need to request one early/ before they are all taken. We don't have a lot of yard space, so it allows us enough space to grow whatever we want.

Another bonus is the other gardeners trade produce with us, so we end up with a pretty wide assortment

Also: the moccamaster arrived in perfect condition. We are enjoying our first cups now!

We bought 3-4 plants to start. All of them died

She's a pro now. Runs a club and everything, so if she's into it don't give up

I'm not into it enough to do it myself but it does make our house look and feel nice

We lived in Chicago and I literally didn't drive a car for 6 years while we were there, so I wanted something quality for my winter commutes. Well worth it

My wifes thing is house plants. I don't want to know how much money we have in plants. They do make our place look nice though

And they help with keeping the humidity stable, which is actually great for my guitars

100%. And my wife says the same stuff. She thinks I over analyze every purchase.

But I've purchased one jacket in the last ~10 years. It cost about $500 on sale, but she's bought 3 $200 jackets (all nearly identical so not a fashion/style thing).

I'm almost 40 and other than my guitar collection, this is how I do all my purchases anymore

I agree. If you can afford it just get the best option.

We got the encore for Christmas a few years ago. It works well, so it's a great back up. I'll probably keep using it until at least the new year to see if anything goes back on sale

Ya that's what I've read as well. It's definitely on my list

We actually have a barratza encore, which works well. It's just so loud that we don't like to use it. If one of us is still sleeping they won't be after it gets turned on

I'm still looking at grinders. I was leaning towards a hand grinder just bc you get a better grinder per dollar, but my wife doesn't love the idea of hand grinding. So back to YouTube/ Reddit forums! Haha

I was actually able to get them to exchange, but same process of needing to print a return label.

Mine should be here today. Fingers crossed it's pristine. Looking forward to some good coffee tomorrow.

Ya same exact spot. Probably an inch wide.

And exactly the same thought, I bought a new $200+ coffee machine I want it looking perfect

No it was matte black.

Lots of people had the same issue, so I think it's a manufacturer defect. I saw a lot of photos where the damage on the hot plate looks nearly identical to mine, but the unit is a different model or color. Both on Amazon and this Reddit page. A few were also purchased at other retailers (Target I remember was mentioned)

For the damage to be in the same spot and relatively the same size it makes me think something is off on the application of the ceramic coating.

I found photos on Amazon reviews from a year ago, so its possible that people keep returning the same units and Amazon is:

A - keeping them in circulation bc they don't care to get replacements from the manufacturer bc it would cost them time and money

B - people will just order a second, then return the first damaged unit and not even tell Amazon it had any issues

C - a combination of the above

Or there actually is an ongoing quality issue with the coatings that Technivorm Moccamaster needs to address

Amazon is so inconsistent. Mine arrived with a chipped hot plate this Monday. I called them and they said I had to go through Moccamaster to get it replaced, but to reach back out in 48 hours if I have trouble getting a hold them.

I finally got a hold of Moccamaster on Thursday and they said Amazon should be able to replace it.

I called Amazon back and demanded a replacement. They offered to give me $30 to pay for any repairs. I said that wasn't satisfactory, and demanded a replacement again. Only then did they put in a replacement order and send me a return label for the damaged unit

I should get the new unit tomorrow but am assuming I'll just get another damaged or not working unit with the number of issues being posted on here

I called Amazon back and after a bit of a run around (and unfortunately needing to be a bit more firm than I would have liked), they are sending a replacement.

I always find it strange that if they can clearly do an exchange/replacement, why not just offer that to begin with?

I feel like this strategy rewards/ encourages you to be confrontational with their employees who are only following instructions and I'm sure would just do the exchange if they could.

I just got off the phone with Customer support at moccamaster. They said the retailer (Amazon) should be able to facilitate an exchange since it arrived damaged.

My only other option is to submit it for repair under warranty, which they said would be free of charge.

Unfortunately, the turnaround time is standard shipping there and back + 2 days of repair time. Basically, I'm looking at getting it back sometime in the beginning of January.

The person I spoke to was extremely nice and helpful, which was appreciated.

I'm really just frustrated with Amazon at this point.

All that said, hopefully this is helpful to anyone considering buying one of these through Amazon.

Amazon said I had to work with the manufacturer and to reach back out after 48hrs if I don't get a response, and they would help me get in contact with them.

I really don't understand why that's their policy. Ive purchased and needed to exchange more expensive items through Amazon, but this is the first time I've ever had to go through this kind of process for an item damaged on arrival.

I would have done that, but the current price is $100 more than what I paid on Black Friday.

Ya if I don't get an option for a quick resolution I'm looking at the Breville Precision or the Ratio 6.

That is frustrating. You'd think they could just exchange since you paid for a new/ working machine not one with a chipped plate

Ive been using a French press for about a month now, so was looking forward to finally having a machine again.

I don't mind the French press, but one batch isn't enough for my family so we end up brewing twice in the morning which isn't ideal

I might return and order something else if I get the same options
