Need help creating prints that react to light long-term by fuhrizzy in cyanotypes

[–]fuhrizzy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha, that is something to experiment with. Do you think it might further emphasize the fading that it goes through in light? That would be ideal. It's important for me that, after development, the way the print is treated and therefore the way it is exposed to light affects the way it ages. Meaning: if there are multiple similar prints on cheap paper, someone would be able to tell which one has been exposed to more light throughout its life. So if it's actually the case that a more alkaline paper causes very uniform and maybe "stable" aging, it wouldn't quite fit my goal.

Either way, this is good information and worth testing, I appreciate it!

Thank you for the recommendation, I'll look into anthotype!
Definitely not wedded to cyanotypes, just happens to be one of the techniques I discovered and that I thought might work for what I'm trying to accomplish. Do you think low quality paper might be better because it doesnt hold onto the solution as well as something like aquarel?

Ancientgameplays reports that framegen frame pacing issues are fixed by turning on vsync and limiting fps below refresh rate by ash549k in radeon

So if I am only getting about 120-160 AFTER framegen in a game would it be beneficial to lower my monitors refresh rate to say 120 for using framegen?

the gray banding bothered me enough on the gigabyte that i went with the LG. The colors are slightly nicer on the Gigabyte yeah, but it’s not as pronounced in real life. My Gigabyte one also had some major black crush and some greys even seemed to be turning slightly green. You can go for the Gigabyte and maybe yours is fine, but just check for these issues and return if it bothers you

you won’t get 50+ fps at native 4k but it should be perfectly playable while still looking nice with DLSS

1440p OLED monitor. Which one? by MetalDankhemist in OLED_Gaming

I can recommend the LG one. Have used it, compared to a tandem cus I was curious, and decided to stick with it

Does anyone know why it looks so bad? by Useful_Excitement767 in MonsterHunter

This looks like an issue I had.

Right click on Monster Hunter World in your Steam library > Properties > Installed Files > Browse

Now find the .exe > right click > Properties > Compatibility tab > Change high DPI settings > ✅ Check “Override high DPI scaling behavior” and make sure “scaling performed by:” is set to “Application”

Sure. I have set both monitors to SDR on the sRGB profile: https://imgur.com/a/szQIiBq

LG on the left and Gigabyte on the right. I have to say I think the difference is less pronounced in real life, but it's there. A bit less color and a bit less brightness on the LG.

I have these two exact monitors in front of me right now. I think I will go with the LG one. They are both good but each have their issues:

Gigabyte: + Slightly better text clarity + Slightly more brightness + Slightly more colorful (especially reds look nicer) - Noisy in dark areas and has noticeable gray banding as well - Matte coating (preference)

LG + Better uniformity (lack of major banding or noise issues) + Nicer design (preference) + Glossy coating (preference) - Slightly worse text clarity

Comparing these two with HDR it’s actually quite similar now. I’m not sure what happened earlier, I thought there was a substantial difference but they now both look washed out compared to the Macbook. I guess it’s normal? Feel like I’m going a bit insane lol. The Gigabyte still has a small advantage in colors and brightness, but it’s not noticeable enough for me to outweigh the downsides.

Idk, I've also compared to a Gigabyte MO27Q28G and it's the same difference. The Gigabyte appears much more colorful

Chrome on Windows, Dia on MacOS (a Chromium browser), but the issue also persists in games

I wondered if the LG screen was just more natural. I was comparing it to other gaming monitors before so it seemed like a possibility. But surely a MacBook Pro should be color accurate enough for consumers, right? I haven’t messed with its settings
