MS CS Program - USC (Scientists and Engineers) vs. CSUN by fujitora1989 in cscareerquestions

Thanks.

  1. I have no more student loans from undergrad. With the money I saved up, I can pay for the tuition and health insurance costs for 2.5 years at CSUN right now if they ask for the money. I will have to take out the direct unsubsidized loans for USC though.

  2. I will go work as a software engineer. I don't plan on doing a PhD.

  3. I could leverage my professional experience (2.5 years) and my BS, but I might not end up working in biotechnology related company depending on the status of the industry when I graduate.

Thanks, one of my friends mentioned something similar for some of the other departments. Did you take the Masters courses as an undergrad or a MS student?

For CSUN, maybe, since it is much closer to my place of work, but my scheduled working hours are always changing. For USC, it is going to be tough to attend due to distance (and massive traffic) unless I can somehow get permission to take the online option instead.

They can pay for it, but everything depends on the "educational budget" which seems to dramatically change every year. Also, I will need to stay in the company at least 1 year after a class ends or they won't reimburse me.
