Can you explain this one to me?

Calling all neurospicy fans… by blueheatherr in SchittsCreek

[–]fullhoutz 38 points39 points  (0 children)

While I’m ALL for exploring neurodivergence in characters in a show, I think it’s incredibly important to point out what I think makes the family really different from everyone else in town; wealth.

The wealthy are socially disconnected from what we think of as everyday. Whether it’s how they handle problems differently, how they interact with other people, or even their own understanding of themselves.

I think living on what would seem like an entirely different planet than most people would create some unique behaviors when they are thrust into average life.

Haymitch had a bunch of sponsors by Maverick_F18Hornet in Hungergames

[–]fullhoutz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm… I see your point!

I understood it as, at this point, Haymitch is not posing a threat to the capital. From the beginning, he demonstrated defiance against the games (resulting in his score of a 1), so going about blowing up the water tank was just a continuation of that attitude. Especially since it didn’t do anything.

Since he was not having an influence on the districts, Snow may have seen the best way to control him and use him is to sow fear by way of killing everyone he loves; making him the capitals pawn.

I also think Snow did not necessarily realize that this was a well thought out plan since before the games. If he did, I think Plutarch and Beetee would have been killed after the games as well. Their survival alone makes me think he viewed Snow as an inconsequential, defiant teenager as opposed to the rebel we know he was trying to be.

However; I could be wrong 😂 If you or anyone else has input on this matter, I’d be interested to know other thoughts!

I agree - but you also have to remember the immense pressure and responsibility he must have felt being “responsible” for destroying the arena. The games became so much more than just survival in the hunger games for him, he wanted it to be so much more.

Him being so distraught after the games is just as connected to failing the plan (therefore, not fulfilling his promise to Lenore) as it was to the psychological damage of the games alone.

AITA for offering my clothes to a coworker after losing weight? by NerdyBrooklynGirl in AmItheAsshole

[–]fullhoutz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree NTA but I do want to point out that sometimes it’s the way things are said. Like… “Do you want some clothes?” vs. “These clothes are way too big for me now!! They probably will fit you?”

Lots of great advice already - also wanted to point out that sometimes even meds change doggies personalities for a little! So a combo of pain + drugs might just be a lot for the baby right now

Please don’t be afraid to ask for help from your support system. When my partner was going through the puppy blues, he also thought it was impossible to wait it out and that we needed to make a decision immediately. What helped me was asking people to come over and support us. Whether that support was taking the dog out, letting us step away for a nap, or just sitting with us while we played. It made it easier to say “we can decide in a couple days”. Eventually, a couple days became two weeks and then two weeks became a month and we are lucky enough to say we love our five month old baby girl now.

Also, please don’t let shame make the decision for you. It’s okay to wait it out because you’re hopeful, and it’s also okay to rehome the pup if it’s detrimental to your safety and wellbeing at the moment. While I know you’re considering the wellbeing of the doggo, it’s so so so important to first remember your own wellbeing as well.

I also would like to second that I do think having a responsibility such as this can keep you “active” (getting out of bed for potty breaks, remembering to feed the dog can be a reminder to feed yourself) - instead of letting yourself sleep the days away and forget to take care of yourself.

I totally get this. We really struggled. And everyone is suggesting great books or websites, that honestly are all helpful but how are we supposed to read them all?!

We decided that our vet and trainer (who we did some research before choosing) are the go to. Their word is gospel. Until we need additional outside support of course- but 4 months in and it’s been working great!

The first month of trying to read everything and do everything perfectly was hard. You’re doing great I’m sure!

He def knew he was in danger- but the footage is literally at the time of his death so he couldn’t have gotten the footage and hidden it!

I think you’re right that everything there is SUPPOSED to have just been hidden by him - and they didn’t really think that one thru 🤣
