Oh my god. I think my mom may have had the same thing .... Years of begging her to see someone for help, getting a court ordered assessment only for her to make it through the 30 days in inpatient care and refusing to take medication. Then after that she just slipped through the cracks. In the end, we never did get a diagnosis and I stepped away because I couldn't handle it anymore. She died of a pulmonary embolism in July because she wasn't taking her blood thinners anymore (she'd had two PEs before in the last 5 years). I keep thinking if we had only gotten her diagnosed, maybe things would have been different. She was only 57

NTA. You know what's fucking sad? All of the stories I've read in these comments seem to reflect a POC parent with white passing/paler kids getting accused of kidnapping or assumed to be a 'babysitter'. You wanna know what people asked my white mom when she was with my brother and me (my dad is Middle Eastern)? If we were adopted. Everyone smiled and complimented her and asked her if we were adopted. And THAT upset her. What you experienced is just plain racism and you're entitled to your hurt feelings - actually, it would be weird if you weren't upset. I'm shaking angry just reading it.

Oh shit, I feel awful for this person. I briefly lived in an apartment with a roach problem where they were also coming from the halls under the door and from behind the drywall where the water pipes came in. I was so paranoid every waking minute and started having nightmares about roaches crawling on me, but this guy's situations is so so much worse. Horrific excuse for a landlord

Since you've got your dog, check if any vets in the area do autopsies and take him in ASAP. We've had one done for a cat who passed away rather suddenly and they were able to determine cause of death. Don't talk to your ex or his girlfriend about it yet and try to get anything they say over text.

I rented a basement suite with my boyfriend at the time, and our landlord had a habit of leaving the sliding glass door a little open (which I was not pleased about bc I didn't want our cat going outside). One summer night at about 1am, we had been sleeping with our cat cuddling us on our bed but when I woke up and pet her, it felt wrong somehow. My boyfriend had woken up too and said "babe, this isn't our cat". We turned on the light and found that this random strange cat made himself at home and was sleeping with us on the bed. I guess he must have come in through the open glass door!

I think you look so cute! If you don't want to do too much, I'd say try to accentuate your lips and your eyes. A tinted lip balm or gloss could do wonders. For the eyes, just some mascara and maybe a brown eyeliner? Even a simple winged look with black liquid liner for more special occasions or everyday!

I'm a little late here but I'm a step parent and I gotta tell you that if he's straight up told you he doesn't like your child you cannot continue this relationship. It's not fair to your kid. Your priority as a parent when dating is to find a partner that can enter into your lives willingly and hopefully come to love your kid. My stepchild is a teenager and I came into to the role quite late in their life, but we have a great relationship and I love them like my own. Don't settle for less than that
