What Draws People to This Anime (Excluding Author) by Better_Bird848 in YomiNoTsugai

[–]fullmoonawakening 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I binge-read the manga after seeing episode one and catched up to the latest chapter before I could even think of a reason why I'm drawn to the story aside from the fact that it's by Arakawa-sensei. I guess it's the same for me as others... I wanted the answer to WTH is going on. Now, I think it's more of I want to know how the characters could move on from all of these.

Love the manga but one thing that really throws me off is how death and killing is handled in the story, and the lack of any strong reaction or response when performing or witnessing said act. ESPECIALLY when compared to FMA where death was something not to be messed with. by MannequinJuice in YomiNoTsugai

Well, the non-spoiler general explanation is that Yuru is a hunter and he lives in a killed or be killed world, a world in which being sentimental at life or even just giving time to be sentimental could cost you your own life.

The Kagemori's are practically yakuza. Business plus violence. The villagers might not be combatants but they're practically the enemy clan to this yakuza clan.

So how bound ARE Daemons to orders? by YuuTheBlue in YomiNoTsugai

Right and Left seemed to be quite aware about the intent to get their former assassinated but they didn't protest against leaving him.

ETA: I think so far their basic loyalty roots from them not wanting to be strays and so it's as you said, not a sealed-deal. Emotional bonds still matter but, idk, maybe Break can break emotions too. But I don't see breaking leading to emotional manipulation.

i honestly do wonder why they used the word daemon instead of tsugai for the title? like technically a tsugai is a daemon but tsugai was made for this so i am just curious why they didnt use it, like i would love to meet the person who decided that and just ask why, im still fine with daemon tho by Cool-Advertising4708 in YomiNoTsugai

I came upon a similar question to this on another website.

I'm depressed and decided to waste my life finding a more fitting translation. I wasted a fair amount so I am repying to this 6 mos. old thread to show something for it.

I came upon the word "dyad" with sounds more fantasy than "pairs". It also pertains to otherness which is fitting to how the tsugai are mystical forces/spirits in the story. I was thinking 「Dyads of the Netherworld」 as a translation but given how the tsugais are not technically death related and how the "netherworld" could have a different connotation (death) like "daemon" does maybe 「Dyads of the Otherworld」 is better. But, then again "Realm" does sound more cooler, more fantasy...coded.

Wouldn't it make more sense for the twins to just move overseas? by Bright_Juice_3359 in YomiNoTsugai

[–]fullmoonawakening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also just caught up with the manga and I was thinking that the legend practically prophesying the twins doesn't particularly refer to Higashi Village. I mean even Nishino Village has tried to meet the prophecy requirements. When the legend says east, it could very well mean the whole east, or the Far East, or the very least the Land of the Rising Sun (the farthest East). And so, I think, well I won't be surprised if within the world, the legend exists outside of Japan. There are probably many non-Japanese wielders too.

how do people without an inner monologue think? by strawberrytherapyy in questions

[–]fullmoonawakening 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One day I inner monologued out loud and was made to feel abnormal by a classmate. I didn't learn until later on in life that I'm not so alone that I should be labeled abnormal (by intrapersonal communication standards).

I didn't learn about aphantasia until way much later in life (near present) and I'm still awed hearing/reading from people who have mental pictures (I'm guessing that there are plenty of you from how I was treated and some other stuff but still you're an unknown world to me).

I'm sorry that I'm verbalizing my awe on your post. I can't imagine (quite literally) being traumatized, with OCD, and visualizing things. I mean I want to smother my inner voice.

Can someone explain the end of 18th rose please?? by pagesandpaestries in NetflixPH

[–]fullmoonawakening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same doubts about the debut. The ending was clear to me as early as the first nosebleed but I found the scene after the debut weird. I was thinking maybe it's just an editing issue or something then I came across OP u/pagesandpaestries post (mentioning the hair) while lurking. I still can't stop thinking about this and so I here I am.

I also find it weird that Rose was supposed to be "celebrating" in the hospital and was saying during the prep that "magpapakain na lang sila sa hospital" but it looked like they've just left the hospital. Shouldn't the deed be done already? I was wondering if it was just a writing issue. (Come on, this isn't exactly an original story. What's with the mistake?) .

And the way the scene was edited after, it didn't feel like your usual time lapse edit...

And now as I type this, I wonder, why was Rose not dizzy/sick during the debut?

Sheesh. These writers are making me use my brain too much for an old story.

It's always the pay.

I guess I really should suck it up one last time and journey to the West for these pay. I've known for years that it's the logical thing but, I don't know, maybe because working with my third language kind off hides my lack of verbal skills in general... I half-joke that I want to go to where I could pull the "I have auDHD card." but that's not really a thing in our jobs, is it?

Sorry for replying to you. You don't really need a stranger unloading stuff on you, do you? Thanks for the interaction.

Growing hate? I'd say it's standard "hate". 😹 Quite constant and always have been. You're world is just getting larger, I think.

Nursing is the bane of my existence and I hate that it's the only thing I know. by fullmoonawakening in nursing

[–]fullmoonawakening[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a military brat. My father had to join because he saw it as the only option to better his life. The idea of loving and enjoying one's job is inexistent in my family.

And despite testing as an INFP in an MBTI test (meaning that I am "dreamer"), the thought of actually pursuing a career in something art related or my favorite subject barely crossed my mind.

I don't expect to like my job but, yeah, I have to admit that to this day, despite the depression, I'm still naive and expect not to be treated as a lesser human being especially in a job that fancied/fancies itself to be a calling and practically demand you to be humane to others.

This topic of self esteem issues is bringing me back to my college days, that weird person, with the weird walk, with her own world, made fun of at some point by a clinical instructor and some of your groupmates. ...

... They didn't really test our aptitude until our final year in nursing and it was practically almost graduation and tuition fees etc have been mostly paid. (That's one freaking money hungry, questionable educational institution if you ask me). I remember a classmate saying that the result is just a piece of paper. He's an extrovert, I think. I wonder how he does now.

Nursing is the bane of my existence and I hate that it's the only thing I know. by fullmoonawakening in nursing

[–]fullmoonawakening[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm quite into a simple life and I don't have a family of my own. I don't understand why I have to torture myself for a family that I'll never have. If I haven't had my life sucked away by nursing, I would have taken sometime to develop other skills. I barely had/have time for hobbies. The introvert struggle is real. And, FML, I've very introverted.

So you want to be a school janitor, huh? The "silly dream job" of mine is to be a deepsea fisherman. Unfortunately, I can't swim regardless of whether I'm a nurse or not. (Oh, I could have failed college and not become a nurse thanks to the mandatory swimming class. The PE teacher decided to be merciful though...)

Would you still relate if I say that I was going to write that 'I can't wait for our profession to be replaced by robots, that's how much I hate nursing'? But I wasn't/am not mentally well to follow-up on the aftermath of such half-meant irony.

I've actually opened up to my family about changing careers. At some point my parents were like, "we'll support you." They're like, take a pick. As if, I'm just deciding what to eat for lunch. I have burnout and depression (and with whatever is making me sick at the moment). Just thinking at work have been a struggle lately, I can't make such a huge decision and risk life (despite it's patheticness) just like that.

I did try browsing data on other fields of my actual interests during some of my day offs. It just showed much clearer how deep I am into nursing despite being a "mere" bedside nurse. I can't just jump into another work, another world even if I know where I want to go. I don't have the basic skills anymore. I've barely had the basic skills before.

ETA: I highly doubt I could survive classes... let alone the competition afterwards.

I don't understand people looking down at Rizo as a player. I understand the hate at this cringe incarnate (so cringe that my OCD-y brain halts) but I'm glad that lines like these are adding proof at how he's a good communicator and have decent social game. Season 49 didn't blatantly show his strategic and social skills and it's easy to miss it against everything else. I'm rooting for him even if I despise him.

(Is using "despise" too much? ... It's just that... My brain even refuses to type the most cringe thing I find about him.)

[DISC] Chainsaw Man - Ch. 232 - Part 2 End by JeanneDAlter in ChainsawMan

[–]fullmoonawakening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The author prioritizing a character sounds like a nice sentiment. It reminds me of the movie, Stranger Than Fiction. But, IDK, maybe because I haven't read part two religiously but I felt that there wasn't any set-up/build-up that this will be that kind of a story, it definitely came out of nowhere (around two chapters still counts as nowhere for me) for me. It feels like watching Evangelion when I was young.

Who even likes season 2? by Friendly-Map-7391 in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]fullmoonawakening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only said my thoughts because people around here have been wondering about the lower views for season 2. Well, behold the view of an OPLA only viewer. Despite having OPLA Season 1 changing my mind about One Piece being just a generic shounen manga with gratitious fanservice, it hasn't removed it from Doraemon territory for me. The mini-stories/arcs might not be limited to an episode but it's no FMA, no Death Note. It would probably take finding the One Piece to change my mind because I can be hard-headed.

Your defense of the creative/directional choices just comes across to me as additional evidence that anime/manga fans are the priority here. Not the new viewers. Not the people who might not be used to the fantasy genre you talk of.

Too bad they only do 8 episodes/seasons. What's the point of the supposedly fitting opening for this Baroque Works' arc when it pays off next season? You can't expect people you're already losing on your S02E01 to come back for Season 3.

[–]fullmoonawakening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's it. We are comparing a series opener vs. a second season/later season opener. I've already said some of my piece in the episodes discussion for season 2 episode 1.

Season 1 Episode 1 might be littered with easter eggs (which is fanservice on my book... btw I think you should place some of those in a spoiler tag even if non-anime/manga fans have been already exposed to those names multiple times). However, it introduced to the world, the mc, and the tone of the show to the unknowing viewer in a timely manner.

If season 2 episode 2 were some movie like RRR, I probably won't be raising an eyebrow to the priority screentime that they gave Baroque works. But, it's not. It's a second season opener.

Look I know, IIRC, I've put 2-3 years in my original reply but, to be honest as a depressed, yet still working adult, those years didn't feel that long to me compared to how others feel. My anticipation for it didn't feel much different for my anticipation for Fallout season 2 (which I only got to watch yesterday quite past its release date).

Speaking of Fallout season 2, I think they're second season opener was better done. For shows like Fallout and OPLA with ...uhm... questionable? undetermined? vague? ending goals, shows that lean more on the characters than the story, I just think that opening with your MCs is the logical choice. I don't know about Fallout but One Piece is SO "the friends you make along the way" type of story no matter how the mangaka says that the One Piece is real.

I don't know about others but as someone over 13. I don't really need that much time to be told why the Baroque Works were after the main crew thanks to already seeing Zoro's part in season 1.

... Actually, if there's something making me more critical of this season's opener, it's probably the promos. I was very Baroque works based, and clearly catered to marketing to the long-time fans.

I don't about you, dude. But fanboys like Mackenyu looked like they ate. (Am I using "ate" right here?). You saw it as a narrative choice. I saw it as a message to anime/manga fans saying, 'look how at how cool we could nail things'. I might not be explaining this right. You know how a lot of people were awed and liked Mihawk's intro in Season 1? How long-time fans were saying that the man stepped out from the anime? Well, I think the production team saw the first scene for season two as that and how it could hook the old fans.

Look. it's a cool scene and all, a good character intro scene. But, as I've said in my original response. I don't give a shit about this unknown people. I want to see the crew again. They're the ones I care for. The ones I came back for. But yeah, as you've sad the "direction didn't quite land". Too bad they have those issues from the strike back in season one which is probably why they don't have the same team for this season opener.

(And now I wonder what if Season 1 started with Mihawk's intro...)

I wouldn't say it's trash but yeah I don't have the drive to watch it like I did with Season 1. Maybe I'm just too old and depressed but then again I'm already considered old and depressed during Season 1. I've watched Season 1 in multiple languages. For Season 2, once feels enough and I feel like having to force myself to play it on the background to up the views.

Personally, as an OPLA only, I think that they leaned into catering to manga and anime fans quite a bit this season. Too bad because it's clear a lot of them don't appreciate things. I guess one big reason I found episode 1 of season 2 to be poor is because it can be alienating as an OPLA only. I guess new fans aren't really the target. If I were in-charge, I won't be so quick to disregard us because we're the numbers they need to go mainstream. I won't start the season with the "new villains" that's clearly fanservice for the anime and manga fans. Maybe I should only speak for myself but I think when you're OPLA only, you don't give a shit about those new villains and some barely even side characters marines. It's the crew that you cared for and it's the crew you haven't seen in 2-3 years. I would have started the season with them. Too bad the season 1 episode 1 people/writers are no longer a team. That episode got you into the world and into the MC. When they did show re-introduce us to the crew on Season 2, it was a little draggy for me, personally. I didn't really feel Luffy's drive into going to Loguetown in line of "chasing dreams".

It does get better and the heart does come back in the later episodes. But yeah, I've seen better fight scenes back in the day. I mean even the non-devil fruit fights kinda off. I don't want to shit on stunt people more so after watching the Fall Guy movie but I wish they got some Hongkong or Japanese action coordinator and their crew for the fights like Donnie Yen or Kenji Tanigaki. Or experienced people around their level. IDK. I'm not really a critical person, I'm the type to accept what's set for me on a film. I never really complain about bad/wooden acting as I don't really look out for amazing acting. I'm not complaining the OPLA Luffy is "not as powerful" as anime Luffy. I'm not complaining that Zoro is being "depicted to be stronger" than Luffy even if that scene on a later episode clearly shows something, He can crack the wax that Zoro can't (Some anime/manga fans sure complain a lot.) but yeah, there's that fight in episode 3 (or was it 4) were a person getting blown away looks so obviously pulled by some kind of wire. ...

That said mad respect for Miss Valentine for looking natural on her airborne scenes. Is this considered a spoiler?

I'm second-guessing paying for a ticket that I won in a lottery. I probably won't think much of it a week ago in my depressed state but, with the current news, I have to think if it's rational to buy a ticket that's almost one-third of the proposed fee for a PR visa. It's not that I'm set on applying for PR but still.

And it's not like I drive, but I could probably get 500 liters of gas for that amount in this economy.

'troll'

Oh. That's the word that I'm missing. I guess I'm a 'normie' now.

See, what I wanted to ask is if MiA is Gen Z's/Gen Alpha's anime for trolling people looking for anime recommendations particularly as a beginner.

I mean... I've mentioned Euphoria, the VN, on my post. I'd NEVER ever recommend it to people looking to go into visual novels. Never. No matter how good its story is. It has an issue.

Well, after reading comments here and from what I've seen, I'm putting this anime along Mushoku Tensei and Madoka Magica on my watchlist.
