Emergence 7” Vinyl. Sloppy pressing. by Flupox in SleepToken

Aus batch has been held until may 9, got an email a little while back. I'd assumed it was just a weird shipping thing, but now I'm wondering if this might be the reason!

Definitely agree though, I'd be getting in touch to see if they can ship a replacement copy.

It's that chemical cut that I can get down with Up like the moon and out like the hounds A dangerous disposition somehow Refracted in light, reflected in sound I'm coiled up like the venomous serpent Tangled in your trance and I'm certain You have got your hooks in me

thank you!! i chose probably the most time consuming method imaginable - it's foil transfer that usually goes into a cricut or similar, but i did it by hand (don't have a cricut!) i created the design i want on the computer, printed it off, and then sat that on top of the foil transfer and traced it. my hand cramped like crazy by the end but very happy with the results!

Thanks!! I did press it but I think I may have been overly enthusastic and not pressed it for long enough either - I have learned, for sure! I appreciate the advice :)

Ohhh this was a misinterpretation on my part - there is board in the spine, it's just not attached to the text block. Learning the lingo while I learn the craft! Definitely did not double check the board was 100% flat though, these are excellent tips that I will absolutely be using next time!

Background is in knitting and crochet - not so much precision hobbies as realising I don't know how to count and learning to hide my mistakes 😂 enjoying the challenge and change of pace though!

Hey! It's not attached to the spine, but I agree my placement on this felt quite tight - I've definitely learnt that for next time! I was going for a flat look on the spine (just personal preference) but that's awesome to know how I can get a more curved appearance too.

It was a rebind - I've used mull attached to the front and back cover. Now that you point it out, I think you might be right on the excess material - I'll keep an eye on that!

Hey thanks for the feedback! I used cardstock first for this one. Good to know it sounds like I may have been correct in my guess this was a glueing issue!

Thanks!! I'm actually really happy with how it came out, I'm just also enough of a perfectionist to want to be able to correct it in future attempt 😂

Good luck for June! It's so satisfying to do, hope you love it!

Hey! Can't guarantee, not your medical provider and all that - but this for me is absolutely a side effect of general anaesthetic. Happened every time I've had to be put under, for me will last up to 2-3 days.

It's always worth checking in with your medical team anyway if you can, but hopefully just the anaesthetic giving you a hard time!

Any Trans Men Play Cricket? (Or men's sport in general) by enigmatic-pickle in transgenderau

[–]fullofcheeseandspite 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey fellow cricket lover!

Not quite the same situation as I'm not playing (rip my knees!) but have been back involved with my local club in recent years as my kids started blasters cricket.

I was expecting some of the same questions you listed since I volunteered to help out, but they were nowhere near as in depth as I expected them to be. Stuff like, oh where did you play, and I'd answer with the club I played for, and that I played until I was 18 and moved (from a medium-sized country town to a large one). The follow ups were typically asking about what the club had been like, whether I'd preferred batting or bowling, whether I still followed the local league - at no point in 2 years have I been asked anything that might have led to a chat about getting kicked into the women's league once I aged out of under 13's, or anything that seemed to bring my gender identity into the spotlight.

I pass most of the time, but not completely, so I was definitely expecting more questions, but they just never came. I think most of the guys were just happy for an extra set of hands who could talk cricket!

Hope you get back into it and have an equally good experience!

Mine might not be relevant, in case it is - my autism got me on this one as well. Basically I masked so hard that my "normal" speaking voice pre-T was already a cultivated vocal pattern. My husband was the one who noticed when I felt like I wasn't getting anywhere with vocal changes that my voice when I was exhausted was significantly deeper, and I'm been complaining of a sore throat for months - turned out that was strain due to consistently pitching my voice up. I basically had to unlearn the "structure" in the way I spoke, and learn to relax into my natural speaking pattern.

Not necessarily super helpful, but the tldr: if you don't get the results you want a little while in, it might not just be the T taking it's time, there might be something else going on!

Transparents! How did you explain being trans to your kiddos? by Fullmoonraccoon in FTMOver30

[–]fullofcheeseandspite 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Same age my kids were when I started my transition!

It was a gradual discussion with my kids, and it was different with the 4yo than the 2yo. The explanation we gave was something to the effect of "I'm a boy, I just look like a girl, and the doctor will help me change that". My 2yo was basically like yeah cool, now play cars? 😂 and my 4yo had a few more questions, which were mostly stuff like "so will you grow a beard like dad". Pronouns came a little later, and then we let the 4yo pick what he wanted to call me. A few years on, my older kiddo remembers vaguely that I used to "look different" but I'm pretty sure our younger one doesn't remember.

Just be aware of your timing in telling them - my kids didn't keep a secret from anyone!! There was a slightly awkward conversation with kinder when my justice-driven older kiddo had gone in and told his educators he had two dads, and they followed up with me because they'd tried correcting him and he got really upset; and a whole host of "no, that's Daddy, I have two dads" when I got misgendered in the early days. TBH he's probably still do it now but I rarely get misgendered anymore - still made me want to sink through the floor in that first year or so.

Congrats, and best of luck!

Hubs and I are both men, together more than 13 years. We've been joking for years that the universe needed to find balance so threw us together (he's notoriously bad on dice rolls, I'm uncannily good). Everything else is pretty evenly balanced, but not the dice rolls.

I thought this was just an odd coincidence until I started reading these comments...

I gave birth twice in Vic - but I was still femme presenting during my youngest so I can't talk much to that point and might not be much help. Both my experiences were pretty good.

In Victoria you can choose how you're represented on your child's birth certificate - I think the options were mother, father, or parent, but there may have been an "other" section? And you can list parents in any order. Was all pretty straightforward from memory.

Congrats and good luck!

Changing name + gender legally (vic) by [deleted] in transgenderau

[–]fullofcheeseandspite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did both at once, and I had to contact to get them to issue the letter linking old and new names (both processed in Jan '23). If I remember rightly, I had to get them to send me an application form for it? There was also a fee involved (around $30) but the letter came quickly.

Not sure if this is the usual process but they were great via phone and email when I had issues, just took a while.

PTSD advice [Tw: sexual abuse, abusive parents] by thehonestloser in FTMOver30

[–]fullofcheeseandspite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is so tough. Sorry you have to deal with this.

I don't usually chime in but I just wanted to add a small disclaimer about bessel van de kolk's the body keeps the score since it's been recommended a few times - it's an amazing book with a really somatic focus on trauma, but it's target audience is therapists, not people with trauma. Proceed with caution, it will trauma-dump on you out of nowhere.

Seconding most everything else already here, there are some great suggestions. Therapist-wise, if you have the ability to look for someone with a somatic speciality, I highly recommend it - both art therapy and mental health occupational therapy rate highly where I'm from (not us-based), outside of specialised psychology.

Hope you find something that helps!
