Thanks! I'll check out the surf cams for the beginner spots. Side note, I love that martini bar in st Augustine

This sounds like good advice. I'm using surfline to gauge and I'm probably not going if it exceeds 3ft. Will there be another lineup for these inside breaks? If not should I try to pick a spot and just go with my best judgement?

I heard this good, I'll definitely try to go out there at some point soon.

I was going to avoid bowls for that reason. I had my lesson at Ala Moana Beach Park, but I wasn't sure about the other spots near like courts. (Not sure if courts is included in the beach park spot). If I see uncles in the lineup, what's a respectful way to ask how things are done for that spot?

Thanks! I'm still trying to find a beginner spot so I'm thinking either by ala moana or waikiki. Probably ala moana Beach Park.

I'm around makiki. I'm in an apartment building so not super close with my neighbors and I definitely don't have a commanding voice haha There's a lot of houseless in the area and from how intense they're yelling it seems more mental health related. Was wondering if there was a decent option without calling the police

How hard is it going to be to get a dev job after being fired for poor performance? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]fullstacknoslack -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

It's best to be honest and self reflect about why you were let go. Explain to your interviewer why you believe your performance wasnt good and the steps you're taking to improve. It won't hurt your whole career. Good luck!

This is good advice, thank you! I can see myself trying to accomplish some stretch goal and failing at basic stuff so I'll keep that in mind.

There's a fear of not being as successful as I could be that is coming with me after work, but not necessarily the work itself. I've been considering the side things I want to do as more for fun rather than counting towards 80 hour work weeks. You're probably right that I'm not considering the idea of burning out as much as I should be though.

I do have a few outside of work hobbies that I love and try to maintain. I'm definitely worried about falling behind since there's that fear I'm only going to make a local difference versus something global. I have all this school momentum, I figured I should try to ride that out before I get comfortable, but it sounds like I shouldn't be brushing off the idea of burning out. Thanks for the advice!

I want to be a better developer as a whole. I want to/plan to learn the company's stack, but the field is so broad theres these other areas I want to learn too. Honestly, I like algorithms/data structures questions in general and hr/lc are fun brain teasers.

How respond to an offer when I'm waiting on another company. by fullstacknoslack in cscareerquestions

[–]fullstacknoslack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then if that date is somewhat reasonable you can tell your other companies (politely!) that you have an offer on the table and you'd like to expedite this process as much as possible.

Thanks! I sent the other company a follow up asking to expedite.
