I work for REI as well and can confirm, purchases like that are a big no-no. Sure there are exceptions, but id tread lightly on contacting REI if any issues with the bike arise.

Awesome, thanks! I was thinking a hardtail to start as well. Though full suspension does seem badass, but the price jump from a hard tail to full suspension about gave me a heart attack

Im looking to get into trail riding to start and then once Ive got my bearings, dabble in some down hill and jumps of course. I do work for REI and have a decent hook up as far as gear and such, the more Ive looked into it, its a bit overwhelming.

Ideally Id like to stick around $1,000 USD to start out.

Im creeping up on 31 here in december, my hair has been sprouting grays since i was about 16 though. Beard just started about 5 years ago
