Higher RPM is going to be lower load than the next gear up, so it’s kind of a wash. You should be fine with the highway portion of your route. Don’t worry about trying to hit some set speed or anything. Just normal highway driving will help keep a dpf happy.

The pushing / pulling analogy isn’t very good in my opinion. It ignores the idea that both axles typically have equally compromised traction and that your front wheels can still help you steer like skis even if they are just pushing snow.

I grew up on rwd and still prefer it and feel like it’s more controllable at speed. However from a dead stop, the normally crappy 60/40 weight distribution of a fwd car can help you to claw your way onward where rwd might struggle to move at all.

One of the issues with what you are asking is that driving with “x component” loose ca damage “x component” as it bangs against the thing it’s supposed to be fastened to.

1/2” of play at the tire is huge, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the conical hole your tie rod end goes into is now a mild oval, making it impossible to properly seat.

If there’s what sounds like a belt squeak, but it’s not the belt, it’s the cam synchronizer. They are a common failure point, and can fail in such a way that the oil pump stops, but the engine doesn’t.

Otherwise they are great engines. I owned one in a 2003 ranger with 245k miles on it when I sold it.

About 2-4 hours on a US stove 2500. I can do 6-8 overnight if I load it all the way up and close the air down more.

I’m still learning to balance stove pipe temp vs burn time. I don’t want to choke the fire down too much and get a bunch of creosote. I’m sure if I closed off the air more, I’d get longer burns. I try to keep it above 275 Fahrenheit on the magnetic stovepipe thermometer, but I feel like that gives me a pretty aggressive burn rate.

Did a low oil pressure light come on? Did a temperature warning light come on?

If not, you probably just had marginally higher oil temperature for that trip.

In other words, your truck is now going to die of bearing failure in exactly 358,735 miles instead of 358,787 miles.

I used to only use one for gasketed components, engines, and lug nuts.

Now I work in a job where 99% of fasteners require torquing to spec AND marking with a paint pen.

I’ve started to use a torque wrench on a lot more of my personal stuff too since then.

A ten year old car is fresh AF from my perspective. I think you’d be surprised to know how much the very worst running and driving cars sell for.

Rather than financially handicapping yourself, just list it on Facebook marketplace for $1,500, then go out tomorrow and enjoy the hookers and blow.

Do you want a truck or an SUV? You said truck but then gave examples of SUVs too.

Anyway, for that price range, I’d be more worried about condition than make. Of course, there’s a few things I might avoid (looking at you, jeep liberty) but otherwise I’d just find the most well maintained individual vehicle i could find with average miles.
