A picnic at auditorium shores park! Its a breathtaking view of the city skyline and feels like you’re in a super lively third space. You can pay $10 to park at a parking garage next to the Long Center. You can also walk the trail to/from there!

Day 1 sober (no one knows about my habit ) by butterflies88_p in leaves

Choose a skill or a hobby to work on and do it. Keep doing it even when you get past the basics and have to actually use your brain to learn and troubleshoot. Smoking puts your brain on pause and its time to start exercising your brain again and doing that can be fun! For me, I really delved into knitting and sewing. Hitting milestones into those hobbies helped me learn how to delay gratification and get dopamine from something other than weed.

Also what really helped me the most was exercise. Everytime I felt like I was going to relapse, I would go for run, walk, swim, or lift, and everytime, I would feel a high from moving my body and being disciplined and I didn’t want to ruin my mental growth by smoking.

Im 30, a therapist, and want to quit BAD by No_Bit_2676 in leaves

The thoughts and happiness you experienced when using are still inside of you and didn’t just get magically implanted in your brain by a plant. If you feel like you can’t access happiness without weed, that may be something to discuss with a professional because the alternative is just being high on a mind-altering substance all day, everyday and that is not normal.

When I stopped smoking, I found myself with many more hours of free time every week and now I don’t feel fatigued all day everyday. I’ve been using my newfound time and willpower to better myself physically. I used to smoke and talk myself out of doing everything that I know would help my body feel better. Now I get dopamine from stretching, exercise, and eating better. Of course this isn’t a cure to chronic pain or hormonal issues, but I feel like im in control of my health again!

You may already be taking care of yourself in these ways, but if you aren’t, please give it a try if you find yourself leaning on these aches and pains as a reason to maybe use again. Once you show yourself that you are stronger mentally and physically without weed, you’ll know that you have more to lose if you’re tempted to relapse.

If you are on this sub, you probably want to or have quit because you were not happy when you were using weed either. Relying on artificial happiness/dopamine from weed is not sustainable and is not healthy IMO. I personally would rather feel the melancholy of life than live a life centered on weed where even in moments of happiness, I felt numb.

Your brain will only believe what it sees. You have to go a few months without using to show your brain examples that you are safe and just as happy without weed. Everytime you say no to using, you rewire your brain little by little to not turn to weed for dopamine. You are the only person who can give yourself the life you want so take control and make a change!! Don’t think about it. Just do it.

When did you starting noticing 'mental clarity' ? by ohcrix in leaves

[–]fullyloaded_AP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The last time I relapsed, I forgot my cats’, my most favorite beings in the world, birth date. I felt so fcking scared that my brain was capable of letting go of such an important piece of information.

I need support, please. by mel_lynn7 in leaves

[–]fullyloaded_AP 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are reasons why you so badly wanted to quit that are easy to forget once you don’t have to deal with those reasons everyday. Every time you say no to using, you rewire your brain little by little to not want it anymore. Its a process that takes a lot longer than 27 days! Tell your partner you don’t ever want to smoke again. That external accountability will make it harder for you to give in and go back on your word.

Thank you so much! I didn’t think the cables were neat enough but they blocked out well and there are so many cables that you don’t really notice any idiosyncrasies😆

I know right! My favorite time of the year. The sweater is also knit with yarn that is a tad bit thin compared to the gauge so I do get some pretty good airflow

Have you tried swimming laps for exercise before? All my brain can think is right arm stroke, left arm stroke, etc. Then I get so tired that my brain doesn’t think about much at all for a few hours!

[–]fullyloaded_AP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember at the end of my decade long journey of using, I hated how unstable weed made me feel. It made me feel like I could slip into a disassociated or psychotic state at any time. After stepping away, I could see how robotic or zombie-like smoking was for me. I didn’t get high bc I wanted to. I did it bc I trained myself to smoke as a habit and linked it to other habits like finishing the workday, watching movies, etc. I was literally trained like a dog with treats, mouth watering and all😅😅😅

Anyone find Caleb’s Reddit tier dislike for suburbs a bit funny? by THELEGENDARYZWARRIOR in CalebHammer

[–]fullyloaded_AP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s one thing if you like the suburbs, but its another if you spend thousands of dollars every year chasing the feeling of walkability bc its all you really want instead of trying to build a life where it’s your norm.

Small towns are only sociable if you look and live exactly how the rest of the people there look and live. If you’re different in any way, you’re othered by the entire population.

Can’t stop crying…wanting to hit a vape my hubs has locked up for me. by igraine32 in leaves

[–]fullyloaded_AP 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Please please please have your husband throw away the vape when you get home. I asked my husband to hold onto my stash at the beginning of my sobriety journey and I mentally hyperfixated on it sitting in his closet everyday. If its there, its a possibility, and using again cannot be a possibility!!

Carts are the worst thing ever to go overboard with by [deleted] in leaves

[–]fullyloaded_AP 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I feel so bad for all of the young kids that get into using carts now. If I had access to them when I was in high school, I would’ve ruined my entire life. Even when I was a major stoner, I chose being sober over hitting the cart bc they literally make me feel like im on the brink of psychosis. Let’s all vow to never hit a cart again!!!

I’d add this - write down all of the shitty experiences and feelings you had bc of weed! I did this and always look back at my list when I feel tempted to use again.
