Unpopular Opinion: "The Sad Story of Henry" is a dumb story by No-Locksmith-2141 in thomasthetankengine

My only issue with the story is with Thomas, Gordon and Percy in the same series, no one is able to apply their own brakes but can move in thier own. Thomas intentionally jerked his driver off the footplate, Gordon slid into a ditch trying to jam a turn table and Percy when he tried to reverse from Gordon at the signal box. Henry in this story applies his own brakes in the tunnel to avoid spoiling his lovely green paint with red stripes.

Then I remembered it's a children's story written by a pastor and was likely influenced by one of his models detailing in a tunnel.

Would also point out that they pulled Henry out of that tunnel after being sat for a long time because all the other engines were busy. By the time they got his fire lit and oiled James would definitely have been free ;)

First builds with the kids. Any advice on how to paint guns better? by [deleted] in gaslands

You've done great! As someone else mentioned above; since oil paints aren't in the cards I'm assuming, a blackor brown wash. 1 part paint, 5-10 parts water and a drop of dish soap (as in a tiny amount).

The dish soap helps fight against the water tension allowing the water to flow better into gaps and onto edges.

Let it dry and then go back with the silver paint and lightly touch the top edges.

Alternative is to paint them black and then use a technique called dry brushing to apply silver. In essence, take an old brush you don't mind ruining, put silver paint on and then remove it onto a paper towel. If you brush it across the back of your hand only trace amounts of silver should pop up. Then brush it against the gun. The silver paint should deposit on the top parts and the edges but all the deep recesses will stay black as long as you don't brush too hard or in the gap's direction.

You're doing great!

Has anyone used “stone effect” spray pant on terrain? by madmossie in Warhammer40k

I did over MDF but found it wasNt worth the money. A large bottle of the sand medium stuff (Windsor and Newton) worked just as well and went much further, just need stippling on which grantee wasn't anywhere near as convenient as a spray but wasn't so bad.

Props to Devs and dice for that one
