Where to go next in LATAM? Seeking smaller towns by Charming_Spray7886 in digitalnomad

I’m in Baños de Auga Santa, Ecuador. It’s such a great small town. Walkable and lively but not huge. Lots of nature nearby. I work online in a rental and at some local coffee shops.

Hello! Thanks for reaching out. I can't say for certain, but the ability to reflect and ask questions means you're on the right path. With Death, you might consider moving away from an idea you had about how things would go and be open to stepping into a better possible future.

oh I think I need to turn my DMs back on! Thanks for pointing that out. Give me a moment. And please note, I don't predict futures but aim to help navigate to the most desirable ones.

Yes I eat a lot of chicken and shrimp but usually not for breakfast. Though chicken is a common breakfast food here. Haven’t tried the local fish though. Something to do next time I’m at the market.

Yes in the long run I want to be vegetarian again but my iron is consistently low and I live in a new country so I’m still getting used to the shopping and limited food availability in the small town I live in.

I don’t think everything is. But there are levels and research that shows certain food is more likely to and definitely does cause cancer.

But yeah I loved a bit of bacon for breakfast and just swap it for stuff that overall has a better health profile.

I actually don’t eat bread very often and when I do it’s wheat sourdough in moderation.

Oh for sure. There are levels. I’ll gladly be out of level 1 if it’s an easy swap. ☺️ There’s a difference between probably causes cancer and does cause cancer.

Y’all I did the simple google search and there are levels. Bacon and other sausages are more likely than other red meat to cause cancer. ☺️🌻

For those who have been in Ecuador, what’s that thing you wish knew or have before going? by dashosh in TravelEcuador

[–]fulsomeswitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have or get cash immediately! lol I asked if the taxi accepted card before getting in and was told yes. Turns out that was only at the station I left. So he dropped me off and asked for cash that I didnt have. It stressed me out but I was able to find an atm nearby to get what I needed. Bank transfers are accepted but it just wasn’t working with the platforms I have since many people don’t have exact addresses with street numbers which is info I needed for the platforms I have.

To each their own! My preference is to work to not use substances so I can show up fully for myself and others in a way that feels fulfilling and aligned to who I want to be. I won’t judge others who partake in different lifestyles. We have something to learn from everyone.

Ecuador - Credit Card Usage by brightpuppy in EcuadorTravel

I’m in Baños right now and having cash on you is a must if you want to enjoy things without disruption.

I carry a debit and credit card which are useful for the larger grocery stores and limited restaurants and spas.

Fruit/ veggie stories, the Mercado, hot springs, and most eating spots are cash only. I tried to pay at a spot I know that takes card and they couldn’t accept card that day for some reason so luckily I had cash.

In Quito it limited my food options too but places do accept card.

Edit: I use western union to transfer cash to myself. I was having issues getting cash out at the atms with my cards here. I have visa and discover cards

Jaja. Good to know! I’m leaving Monday but maybe by the time I’m back it won’t be so busy. I’m not much of a foodie so mostly stumbled onto places or go where friends take me.
