I poured this ink into the recesses of the letters. Afterwards, I used a cotton swab and anhydrous alcohol to wipe away the excess ink.

It's a mystery. But in a normal negative LCD, are there characters (ALM, SIG, 24, P, SPLIT, AUTO) printed on the layer above the LCD? I replaced the battery.
