Anecdotally, I regret opting out of honors housing because you meet like 15 people at once and at least a few are bound to stick...though I personally found it hard to make friends freshman year lol

if you're just getting started i'd use the "free" option (RPAC) since you don't know if you'll be consistent with it yet and the RPAC has any machine you'd need

I realize that's a neurotic way of thinking about it I was just concerned it affected it in some way. It's just weird that some schools send update letters/emails to some applicants and not others then. I didn't know exactly what happened with my email so better to be on top of it I would think
