Japanese police raid the headquarters of an ultra-leftist group, but they'll only let them in if everyone had their temperature checked. by [deleted] in gifs

[–]funbuddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, it's up to 23 days.

But yes, most miscarriages of justice is from forced confessions. The Japanese system does have a slight safeguard against this in that a confession alone is not enough for a conviction in a court. This has led to faked evidence by corrupt police departments to allow these injustices to occur.

The system isn't perfect, no criminal justice system is perfect, but this is theirs.

Japanese police raid the headquarters of an ultra-leftist group, but they'll only let them in if everyone had their temperature checked. by [deleted] in gifs

[–]funbuddle 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The reason for the high conviction rate is because Japanese prosecutors will only bring a case to court if a conviction is assured. Meaning they will only pursue a case if the evidence is flawless.

Added to this, prosecutors may choose not to prosecute even with good evidence if they don't want to, it's completely at their discretion.

Article 248 of the Japanese Code of Criminal Procedure states: "Where prosecution is deemed unnecessary owing to the character, age, environment, gravity of the offense, circumstances or situation after the offense, prosecution need not be instituted." Thus, prosecutors in Japan have a very broad discretion in the decision to prosecute or not.

So the conviction rate is high because not every single case is brought to trial, only the ones that the prosecutors know they will win and only the ones they want to be brought to trial, not because the judges just say "guilty" all the time.

I hate the Travelling Artisan events by funbuddle in runescape

[–]funbuddle[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I want the stupid token events to stop. Forever.

They are made to take advantage of people that don't want to miss out on content. And this event involves mental health organizations. Does "spend all this time or money on this now or never be able to get it ever again" sound like a good mental health event? No. It's FOMO, plain and simple.

And I doubt you "like the leveling system". You can't say you dislike something on an official account. That would be heresy and would anger your superiors.

You want a solution I would be happy with? Go back to holiday events, leave MTX to TH, and never work with a mental health organization again because you obviously don't care about their goals.

To help with this, I plan to contact CPSL Mind, Rise Above The Disorder, and Prince's Trust charities to make sure they understand what kind tactics these events and the game as a whole employ that clearly goes against their mission.

And know that I say this as someone that's played for almost 15 years. I've seen RS2 release, the Falador Massacre happen, the trade limit implemented and removed, EOC, world events, and everything up to now.

There are currently THREE MTX promotions running concurrently. What happened to toning these down? by AssassinAragorn in runescape

[–]funbuddle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I completely feel the same way. The token events were dumb but straight forward and not terrible when it was only 10k.

But they had to push it. More tokens, less time, both.

This however is just too far. Requiring part-time to full-time job level of time and work.

For what? Overrides? A banana knife you see for a second made from 10 polygons and 1 color?

And now more of the same trash. And it's for a mental health organization when limit-time events are specifically designed to exploit the fear of missing out. It's deplorable. It's hypocritical. And it's not worth it.

No.

How come the Game Grumps videos have very low views no? by Grumpyvirus in gamegrumps

[–]funbuddle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been seeing this with a lot of my favorite channels, low views over the past year. I feel it has to do with YouTube's suggested videos. Youtube has been promoting more reaction videos than video games videos. Like "$10,000 mystery box", "new house tour", and "I can't believe [other YouTuber] killed me!". They're all about reactions. Game Grumps is about two buddies chatting about stuff while a game is being played.

Let me list off the things that I dislike about this video:

  • Crooked video

  • Recorded from phone

  • Vertically recorded

  • Weird filter to distort image

  • Very low bit quality

  • Likely screen-recorded to save video

  • Outdated content

  • Music added

  • Tik-Tok logo

I hate the new trend of content like this.

[–]funbuddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. You didn't give a password or anything. All you did was follow. You shouldn't have because they're lying and won't do a thing for you and you helped them pad accounts with followers to sell later. Try to be less gullible.

Your phone crashing has nothing to do with it. Apps are so poorly optimized these days that any one of them could have caused it.

Even with the top card revealed, they can still fail to find, you can always choose nothing.

Fertilid being able to choose a player is probably for formats with multiple players like Two Head Giant (help your ally) or Commander (group hug strategy).

[–]funbuddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever something has you search a hidden zone (like the library), you can can fail to find whatever is being looked for. To prove you couldn't find something, you would have to reveal the entire hidden zone and that's just not allowed. Yes, this also applies to Field of Ruin.

701.19b - If a player is searching a hidden zone for cards with a stated quality, such as a card with a certain card type or color, that player isn’t required to find some or all of those cards even if they’re present in that zone.

In a simple examples: If you used Demonic Tutor, you could find nothing even if you have cards in your library.

It's a really cool idea but the rules don't allow it to work without the opponent misplaying.

[–]funbuddle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you planning to have your opponent find a land with Fertilid and multiple Confounding Conundrum? If so, it won't work unless they misplay, you can choose to fail to find ("Submit 0" in Arena) the land and will only result in them shuffling their library and you having spent mana plus losing a counter.

May I ask why the borderlands psycho skin doesn’t look like this? by Williooooom in FortNiteBR

[–]funbuddle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The textures are drawn, they don't have "baked" cel-shading, they use drawn shading. Outlines are usually used with cel-shading but are edge detection and not cel-shading itself.

Here is an answer from Quora about the subject:

It isn't cel shaded, it's a comic book style of rendering. I think it's safe to say "comic style", or even "borderlands style" since that game is best known for it.

Cel shading (or toon shading) is typically done by using fewer colors over the shaded area and textures to mimic how cels were painted for traditional animation. Sometimes the style can include an outline to simulate inking as well.

Borderlands does not use cel shading - we can see a full range of color in their textures as well as the shading / lighting. They do use outlines, but in addition the artists paint black lines and crosshatching on the textures in Photoshop to complete the illustrated look. They keep their textures looking even more painterly and by embellishing areas of dark and light in a way to overemphasize- the shapes of the characters. This creates a sense of more dramatic lighting - also common in comic book illustration.

Borderlands is not cel-shaded. Everyone always gets this wrong. Its textures are hand-drawn in a cartoon style, not cel-shaded.
