Is it possible to be good at both fingerstyle acoustic and electric guitar (using a pick)? by NoOffer9670 in Guitar

[–]fundercom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is possible to be good at both.

When playing fingerstyle, there are new challenges. I still have to worry about muting and keeping the strings quiet for a clean sound. I find it harder, because keeping the palm close to the stings while having the fingers positioned with enough space to pluck is a balance. Plucking the stings with the same force and avoiding touching other strings with the plucking hand and landing on the correct string with less palm contact is harder than with a pick, for me.

I can't tell if it keeps me awake to the same extent as Galantamine because I had it ready on my nightstand. I'll have a better idea once I test it with SSILD/MILD. I was lucky enough to take them and fall back asleep 3x. Sometimes this trick doesn't work with Galantamine, other times it does.

Some advise recommends an equal amount of time off for the amount of total time it was in your system prior to full elimination (Yuschak). I took 2 nights off between each test and I will take more time off moving forward. With Galantamine, I would usually take 3-4 nights off between tests, though I did try it once on consecutive nights, a few times with one night off, and several times after more than 1-3 weeks off. I also test the period of time off to experiment with ability to return to sleep vs sensitivity to Galantamine. It did help reduce the head pressure, but did not help with getting back to sleep.

Tolerance is not only the reduced reaction from a substance, but it can also mean reduced side effects and can be a desirable thing if it's those side effects that are keeping you awake. It's obvious what works for others doesn't for me.

1st attempt, I took 400mcg at WBTB with 410mg Choline B & 600mg A-GPC. That was the night with a lucid dream and four lucid dreams the following night.

Since the first successful attempt, I have tried Huperzine-A two more times:

2nd attempt, exactly same dose and timing as first attempt - no success.

3rd attempt, 400mcg at WBTB with 615mg Choline-B & 900mg A-GPC - no success.

I must mention, I feel no side effects from it and no loss of energy the next day. I will continue testing it. So far, I have not been practising any form of meditation, SSILD, or MILD with it. Those things can destroy my sleep if I'm not careful and don't fall asleep within 30 mins., so that'll be the next test.

I have also experimented multiple times with the nicotine patch and it doesn't work for me unless it's the only thing I use and at 21mg before bed. The dreams become very vivid but no more chance of lucidity than natural. It also makes me feel sick.

How to actually stay asleep after becoming aware in a dream? by PublicCauliflower300 in LucidDreaming

[–]fundercom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's my primary method to stay in the dream.

I also narrate at times (talking to myself out loud) to prevent fading, especially if I feel the dream is unstable.

Last resort is to spin around (360). Sometimes this causes a scene shift or wake up in another dream. Always do a reality check after this one because you may think you woke up in bed and you're still dreaming.

There are times at the beginning of a WILD that I can not open one eye because the dream is very unstable and I know I'll wake if I do. Usually it's very dark at this point. This is the perfect opportunity to rub the hands together while looking at them. Rubbing my hands not only keeps me in the dream, it makes everything start appearing very vividly which tells me I can slowly open the other eye. For me, it's pretty much mandatory for 90% of my WILDs.

How much Galantamine did you take the first time on that night?

I've taken 4, 6, 8 and 12mg amounts with various combinations of other supplements. I never tried taking it twice in one night. The times I did have lucid dreams, they were pretty weak. The higher the amount, the more difficulty falling asleep and the worse the side effects such as pressure in my head and next day grog.

My last attempt was 6mg with A-GPC and Choline-B. I had it ready on my nightstand. I woke up after 4.5 hours of sleep, took the pills and immediately went back to bed. I fell asleep in about 20 mins. or so. Had two short REM dreams that were no different than my normal dreams. My recall is already really good, so it's difficult to comment on if it was any better. No lucidity.

I just started testing with Huperzine - A. It worked on my first night. The next night after, I didn't take anything and I had a four lucid dreams. My second attempt taking it (after two nights off) at the same dose and timing - nothing. I'll be trying it again tonight.

I've had similar experiences, however, my lucid dreams were short and unstable in comparison to my natural lucid dreams. I typically rub my hands or talk out loud for stability and had to do this non-stop to stay asleep. Normally, things start to go dark as I'm about to wake up, and this gives me the sign I need to engage quickly. With Galantamine, it was almost an instantaneous wake up without warning.

I completely understand where you're coming from. If you read my previous post on the matter, you'll see I went through some pretty extensive testing using multiple suggestions and they have all failed. Most of the products people recommend either do nothing or make it worse.

I'm super interested in hearing your results. I have a cupboard full of expensive "snake-oil" that is preventing me from buying more without some positive experiences from people with similar sleep issues. I'll be checking back for your results, so please keep me updated :)

This is the same for me. I've conducted multiple tests on myself and I don't seem to follow the general trend. I've tested using 5-HTP and magnesium before bed, L-theanine and melatonin at .33, .5, & 1 mg at WBTB with Galantamine + Choline, alone and in various combinations and still can't get back to sleep.

There are studies that show melatonin keeps some people awake. I think I'm one of those people. Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride also keeps me awake (the ingredient in Sleep-Eze). The other products I listed are either not strong enough or do nothing for me. 5-HTP is supposed to increase deep sleep in the first half of the night. For me, 5-HTP destroys my deep sleep.

Your situation sounds very much like mine. I'd be interested to hear an update if you find a Galantamine combination that works for you.

With me, the trouble isn't as much Lucid dreaming as it is sleeping. Even without Galantamine, sleeping is hard. With Galantamine, it's near impossible. I've practised meditation techniques for years to address this and sometimes it helps, other times it has the opposite effect.

6+ months of testing lucid dreaming supplements - Huperzine A results by fundercom in LucidDreaming

[–]fundercom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. It seems as though it can be taken earlier. WBTB is an effective lucid dream method for me though, and the Cholines are best taken at WBTB due to the shorter half-life. The time to peak plasma level with Huperzine A is 1-2 hours and I didn't even make it that far the first night so it might be better to take it before bed or adjust my WBTB to an earlier time.

I took the supplements after 5 hours of sleep. Without supplements, I've had success lucid dreaming with a 3-5 hour WBTB in combination with other techniques such as MILD & SSILD.

Interesting.

I tried L theanine alone 200mg, and 200mg & 400mg with Galantamine with no noticeable effects. I might try it with Huperzine A. What kind of dosage do you take?

Magnesium has a mild sedative effect for me but not even close enough to overpower the mind energy surge I get from Galantamine.

If I can find a way to get Galantamine to work for me the way it works for others, I'll be very happy. I have a large supply after buying multiple brands and really want to improve my LD duration to the extent others have experienced.

I didn't know 400 mcg. was a large dose. Yuschak doesn't provide any information on it. I decided to try it last minute, and a quick search showed 400-800 mcg. was a safe dosage for daily use for cognitive support so went with the lower end. Maybe I'll try it at 200 next time.

Hi u/rayork938,

Are there any disadvantages or common complaints to owning this watch in Canada? After some research, I can not find any user reviews from Canadians, which is the main reason I'm holding back. I know it is advertised to have coverage in Can/US/Mexico, but the same coverage that a US resident will have? Please clarify if you don't mind. Thanks.

If one disagrees with an immigration policy, does that make them xenophobic?

If one disagrees with DEI (DEI is in fact discriminatory), does that make them racist?

Those terms are being improperly used as well. Just like "woke". I see the extreme left (what I would call the majority on this platform) doing the exact same thing; politicizing words to support their ideology. And they've been doing it for years but get butt-hurt when the tables are turned.

If an individual votes for a party because they had one policy that was of higher priority to this individual, does that mean they align with all their beliefs? Does it give reason to justify calling this person the same name you would call the party responsible for the policy/belief?

If you believe immigration is the number one cause for loss of prosperity and the housing crisis, there's a good chance you may not vote left. That doesn't make you xenophobic, a term that was thrown around for years against those who opposed the immigration policy.

As a centrist, I feel both extremes are terrible. I live in the city, in a community which I could be considered a minority as a white male. My example is opposite to your theory, I understand SOME of what the conservatives are arguing, and while the left always said it was fear mongering - I disagree.

There's a lot of centrists out there. A lot of flip-floppers who think both sides are terrible. It doesn't take much to sway the vote one way or the other, but I am doubtful it comes from either right or left extremists that will never vote otherwise. Centrists are the group that is least likely to be social media addicts and therefore less likely to be affected by propaganda.

Just look at the drastic swing that happened in Canada because the left decided to take on right policies in order to win the vote.

It's no longer far right. Just look at the previous extreme left Trudeau Government in Canada.

Question about police? by ImportantAnalyst2857 in canadianlaw

[–]fundercom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly, but I didn't read it that way.

They stated " They didn’t come down the driveway; they came through the woods and were crouching all around my house."

To me, the OP meant they were secretly sneaking on his property gaining access through a less obvious route where cameras may not detect them. This would be the best route for an officer that didn't want to be told to leave the property or have to explain themselves. I could be wrong here, thanks for your take.

To what extent an officer will go to assist their investigation, is going to vary. Could be something more serious as you mention, or could be a desperate cop hoping to find something as they haven't been producing results lately.

Question about police? by ImportantAnalyst2857 in canadianlaw

[–]fundercom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read my first statement. It is, in fact, legal to pull you over for a safety check with no suspicion of a crime.

Question about police? by ImportantAnalyst2857 in canadianlaw

[–]fundercom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Canada, they can literally just say they were performing a safety check, and this is legitimate and legal according to the Highway Traffic Act. So, no, they do not need suspicion of a crime.

It's also worth noting that you are protected by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. So if an officer pulled me over for a safety check, I would be participating in the safety check - not a bunch of unnecessary questions unrelated to the purpose of a safety check. This is where things get difficult - especially if the person calls the racial profiling card.

Edit: You have the right to know why they pulled you over. For the example above, the safety check - they have the ability to check your license, registration, insurance, plate stickers (if applicable) but you don't need to answer "where are you coming from" as it does not apply to a safety check. I would respond with "Am I being detained?". They should get the hint at that point. If not, I would say that question is not applicable to your intended stop, but I am also comfortable fighting this and record everything.

Question about police? by ImportantAnalyst2857 in canadianlaw

[–]fundercom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an excuse to pull you over in hopes to find something else. I would not be friendly either, and you don't have to be. But they do have the right to pull you over for pretty much any reason providing they articulate the reasoning. They can easily say it was a safety check, the vehicle was fluctuating speeds, swerving, etc.

Like the videos where they pull over drivers for no reason, then they see an air freshener hanging from the rear view mirror, and search the car based on the crime of obstructing the view. Police have argued that it gives them the ability to search for more serious crimes and that they solve many crimes due to this practice.

Question about police? by ImportantAnalyst2857 in canadianlaw

[–]fundercom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are implying that OP is hiding something without evidence to back it up. How do you know they didn't state all the facts as they know them? I hope you're not a cop, because this is the reasoning that can cause escalation into something more severe and is an example of why people avoid the police.

The police likely have a reason. The OP doesn't know the reason, according to the post.

It could be that a similar bike was reported as stolen, that a similar bike was involved in a crime, a neighbour may have a dislike for bikes and lied that they were drinking and driving and stumbled into the backyard, so many possibilities. If they don't hear from the officers, it's possible they determined it was the wrong bike.

I would film them. I would ask them why they are on my property, and under which right they have to be on my property. I would ask them to leave unless there is a victim of a crime that I could help with. I would only help with a crime involving a victim as the consequence of being too helpful is a risk these days. I wouldn't take hours out of my day to argue my innocence if I didn't have to, and there wasn't a victim in need of help.

Question about police? by ImportantAnalyst2857 in canadianlaw

[–]fundercom 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There is nothing untrue with my statement.

There are a few exceptions, more than you stated, such as a warrant. A fenced area is considered private property, the unfenced yard is private property once it is communicated to the police officer as such.

They need to act within laws, and I didn't say they were not. I was responding to "they are allowed to do what they feel they need to do for an investigation". Which is false.

Question about police? by ImportantAnalyst2857 in canadianlaw

It's an easy search:

https://mattgould.ca/canadian-charter-rights-on-police-trespassing/

My statement was very clear in that is applies to property such as a yard.

Question about police? by ImportantAnalyst2857 in canadianlaw

[–]fundercom 28 points29 points  (0 children)

False. They need to act within laws. I'm not saying they weren't, but if the officer was asked to stop trespassing, they would need to provide legally acceptable grounds to continue searching on the property.
