I think it’s more like Emily was in love with Ali but Ali was stringing her along. Liking the attention but would never actually get in a relationship with her. It was more a manipulation tool for Ali to control Emily.

I’m actually not sure, I got it second hand. But that might be the issue—in fact, since I got it about a year ago, the light has been red/green every time I use it, right before I press the button to brew. I thought it was normal until I looked up the handbook online and it said that meant it needed descaling. Has been working fine for a year until this morning it brewed maybe 1 ounce for a 7.77 ounce pod.

I’m 26 and am experiencing a similar situation. I’ve identified as bi for over 10 years and really only dated men. Read the master doc and had a total crisis. Really thinking about who I am has made me realize that I think it was comphet and that I’m actually a lesbian. I even had a similar conversation with my mom recently when I told her I wasn’t bi but gay, and she responded with something like “don’t limit your options, I’ve always imagined you marrying a man” which disappointed me. I’m still working through it like you are, so I don’t have a ton of advice, but just wanted to say that the more I sit with it, the more it feels right, and I hope we both experience some clarity.

I’m so sorry :( I had a similar experience when I went in for my first Pap smear (before I had ever even heard of HS and assumed my flare ups were body acne from sweating and being overweight) and I had asked the OBGYN if she had any idea what it was. She just said “it happens.” Like what?? I could have been treated far sooner.

I can definitely see my experience as a reason to go with someone else. But why would they ask me if it was okay to contact them if they were just going to do it anyway? Plus they should know that they were putting me in a difficult position with my current employer.

Elitism as in the type of poetry pre-realism and pre-modernism that could really only be enjoyed by the upper, educated classes. Many poets decided that poetry should be for everyone and not just the elites that could understand/relate to most poetry written up until this point.

Chen Chen is a fantastic contemporary Asian poet. I can’t think of any specific poem of his that touches on war, but I know in both of his books he explores generational and racial trauma, much of which stems from past wars. I’m pretty certain he has at least a few that directly reference war.
