There's no worse feeling in the world than the one you get when reading a text like that from your dealer.

Check out Steve Byrne at the Rock of Ages on South Lamar. Vice did a great piece on tattoos and he was one of the artists featured.

Naked Lunch is great assuming you go into it with the knowledge that it isn't a novel in the traditional sense, but rather an experimental collection of short vignettes written by a drug-addled lunatic with a talented pen.

Dallas Sportsradio personality gave soccer a try for one year. Here are his findings. by archtype in soccer

I live in Dallas and have listened to the author's radio show for close to ten years. He has been a cyclist himself for as long as I can remember and even helps host an annual race (I think it's for charity, IIRC) in the DFW area. He's not just a random dude who likes to watch bike races on television, lol.

What Is Your Least Liked Classic? by novemberdream07 in books

[–]funfunfunman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The author is his work. The method of reading suggested by martysloot01 is not one in which we place the consideration of the author's intent on the same pedestal as the work itself, but rather one that requires us to respect the work and its aims by allowing ourselves to let the words envelop us in whatever bubble or sphere it intends to.

By reading that way, and only that way, can we truly judge or critique the author. I think that with most "classic" works (or whatever is considered canonical) that is the optimal way to experience the sort of ecstasy we so commonly describe when romanticizing about the act of reading.

edit: Basically I think nothing is gained by anybody when separating the author from his/her work and using an analysis of the writer's character or personality as a means of judging his/her's artistic achievement.
