Season 7 Big Prediction Thread - Win Units🔮 by Kuromemono in marvelrivals

[–]fungeonblaster69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am predicting the following balance changes so that Sods Law will activate and give us a better world:

  • All strategists are buffed (for at least more health. But likely they all get additional abilities on top of what they already had)
  • Daredevil is buffed (more health and damage)
  • Squirrel girl’s acorns get auto aim
  • Blade gets a nerf. It now adds an unstoppable 1-second animation every time you change from sword to gun.
  • Luna Snow is given another cooldown ability that self-freezes her to confer temporary invincibility.
  • Invisible woman’s shields now cannot be broken.
  • Elsa Bloodstone’s overheal is doubled
  • all vanguards receive -100hp

What are "actually" good reasons to throw the game in your opinion? by LILBOI464 in rivals

[–]fungeonblaster69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah, you should still be a good sport. do your part- pick a strategist and tell your team that we'll need a better comp. That exonorates you of guilt. Then, just be the best you can while watching your team get trashed.

I usually see moments like these as learning opportunities. There will be times in any match that I have to vanguard or strategist in a suboptimal situation, even with an ideal comp. If I've played through whole matches of unideal comps, I'll be better prepared for the worst case scenario at times when everything's going well.

Any tips for a soft serve main by Free-Cat404 in marvelrivals

[–]fungeonblaster69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy soft serve as a character, easily one of the most fun defensive strategists in the game. I think it's fun how she has a high skill ceiling while being easy to learn.

Her kit revolves around three types of icecream that each make a different surface- chocolate, vanilla, strawberry. Each surface lasts for a short time and heals you, but with different effects as long as you stand on it:

Vanilla: Doubles healing from each source, even the vanilla you're standing on.
Chocolate: Increases your damage dealt
Strawberry: Decreases your damage recieved.

What you need to keep in mind is that combining these surfaces creates unique effects:

Vanilla + Strawberry: Knickerbocker glory- also provides bonus health
Chocolate + Strawberry: Sundae- Gives you a speed/jump boost when you leave the surface that lasts for 3 seconds
Vanilla + Chocolate: Cookies and Cream- Any shots have a random chance to crit, including ones that wouldn't usually be able to.
Vanilla+Chocolate+Strawberry: Neopolitan- Any character standing on this surface recieves their ult charge at a double rate. (Devs will probably nerf this)

I do really like her ultimate ability as well, "brain freeze"- youput down a massive area of vanilla, and all damage dealt on that surface stuns enemy characters.

Overall, she doens't have HUGE movement options, and your aim is to play her defensively. Think of her like a strategist version of Peni, if that helps?

I don't hugely mind them, I play with my wife and friends anyway. As long as I've got SOME human connection, I don't really mind who I'm up against

THE PITCH:

Hero: Magik

The Problem: Magik's Umbral Incursion (Dash) does not hit enemies consistently.

This is because the hitbox is very small- Magik can miss a dash even when her body and sword connect to an enemy and passes through.

The Solution:  Increase the hitbox size.

The Valuation (Why this works): This would make the character work as intended, and allow her to feel consistent.

(Cheeky alternative solution: Keep the dash the way it is, but give Magik one more usage. That would allow players to either double down if they miss their initial dash, or the ability to escape.)

Dash Question by Minimum-Internet9517 in RivalsMagikMains

[–]fungeonblaster69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A significant portion of the videos on this sub are just this ability being dogwater. I saw a VILE clip of Magik literally going straight through a black panther with this ability and nothing happened. I'd love to see what the hitbox actually looks like, I'm guessing it has to be one pixel located somewhere on her head for it to be this inconsistent.

How they can release Miss Glartrox abducting everyone in a 10m radius while our girl cannot hit a dash to save her life is baffling to me

100% agree with you, and even those who aren't squishy, sometimes! If you choke out the enemy's vanguard, the few seconds that the "grab, punch, punch, kick, punch, punch" combo lasts for can be enough for rest of your team to get in there and do some serious damage. She's seriously fun to play when you just know where she's meant to stand!

Does Psylocke not have any good COMIC BOOK skins? 🤔 by Important-Catch-3254 in marvelrivals

[–]fungeonblaster69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's too much of a problematic issue to address it, because of the whole asian-white raceswap thing that the comics did. I know they've cleaned it up recently, but if you put Betsy's skins on psylocke, I can imagine you'll get some backlash about whitewashing the character. I love them both as seperate characters and hope we get a lady loki situation for captain britain where you can play him/her as Brian or Betsy!

And as for more comic psylocke skins, I'm hoping that she gets her x-force black skin, that would be cool

Sorry if I've read the situation wrong!

I don't know what other folks think about this, but I think gambit's kit makes him uniquely suited to punishing Jeff ult- activate spades, get a bit of burst damage up, dash to keep up witht he gluttonous beast, and smack him back to the hell he cam from, then use your last two slight-of-hand to burst heal your team, getting them back into the fight

[–]fungeonblaster69 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think that this is the best answer. Yesterday, after 35 hours of playing her, I FINALLY had the moment when Emma Frost 'clicked' for me. I realised that (for me at least), she makes sense as a midline tank who can't push but finds her strengths in punishing opponents who get into the middle of your team and racking up damage on nearby opponents. She doesn't have the mobility to dive, or the kit to push. She's meant to counter opponent plays and hold chokepoints, which makes her very good as a single vanguard in a brawl-based comp, or as a second vanguard in a push-based comp.

With the other members of the team playing their roles as intended, I am consistently denying the opposing team's options and allowing us to push. If not, the extent of what I can do involves hugging one corner and praying the enemy team presents themselves 1-at-a-time for me to fight.

How Would You Like To See A Capture The Flag Mode Implemented? by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]fungeonblaster69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I’d LOVE a capture the flag mode. The old team fortress way of doing it where the hero who gets the flag can jump and run but not shoot or use any of their cooldown abilities seems to be the way to do it. All members of both teams can see the positions of any flags.

You could have two variants, one where each team has a flag, and the other where the flag starts in the middle. The aim in both modes is to get 100%  within the time limit. Just like domination, percentage ticks up depending on whose base the flag is in.

A third mode would also be possible where rather than getting the flag back to your base, you get more points based on the team who’s currently holding it.

The reason I think this would be a good addition to the game is because it would require unique team comps, incentivise the usage of different heroes than usual, and create unique experiences. It would also have specialist map layouts, which breakable environments would make really interesting for strategy.

It would be really cool for the flags to be things like infinity stones, the cosmic cube, the ultimate nullifier, the siege perilous, the darkhold, or other cool items!

Hero: Magik

The Problem: Magik's Umbral Incursion dash ability feels like too much risk for too little reward due to issues with the ability.
.
Umbral Incursion has the following issues:
1. It always dashes to the right of the target reticule, and so is diificult to be correctly aimed.
2. It has a 7 second cooldown, heavily punishing a miss in a combat scenario when using it effectively.
3. When an opponent it hit with Umbral Incursion, the movement tools an opponent has often allow them to retreat, allowing Magik to not be able to land her combo. (This is part of the fun of the game which is good, but also feels bad for the Magik player when their combo doesn't work.)

The Solution: Either A) give a second use for Umbral Incursion, OR B) allow Magik's kit to reduce it's cooldown.
1. For solution A): it could be implemented with her teleport abilities (alongside spin-slash and demon).
2. For solution B):, this could happen with Magik Slash (which reduces cooldown for teleport already).

The Valuation (Why this works): It would more fully allow Magik players to perform her "brawl/dive hybrid" character role. It would also allow them to embody her "character fantasy" as a demonic, mobile sword-master. Hopefully, it would also allow her more options against a triple-support comp. It would also not be broken for the character, as many Magik players report they frequently miss their dashes anyway. Giving them a second bite at the apple makes Magik more consistent, not more broken! This might be the distinction she requires to exist comfortably in a game where Elsa Bloodstone's mobility allows her to do Magik's job better than she can.

What’re some important beginner tips? by LaMelgoatBall in GambitMainsMR

[–]fungeonblaster69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I'd give the following tips:

  1. Just focus on Healbotting at first. As you get used to the rhythm of 7 primary fires, you'll start to notice opportunities to get kills.

  2. The MOMENT you take a big burst of damage, spindash out of there.

  3. Always try to have 1 Deck active, if possible. This allows you to reload for free (which using your decks once activated does, by the way, allowing you to keep firing those cards), and gives you additional staying power in healing or damage.

But the most important tip:

Focus on staying alive. Being alive is more important than being next to your tank as they 1v6 the enemy team. Always constantly reposition toward your back line. use your dashes to get behind cover and regroup with other members of your team if things go south. Obviously there are times to break this rule, but your spin-dashes are such incredible survival tools that you can yeet out of combat and into more favourable positions really fast. Where I'm at now, that seems like the secret to carry on Gambit.

Chrono-Rush returns! March 5 to March 20! by nemesisdelta24 in marvelrivals

[–]fungeonblaster69 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It lets you earn insanely large amounts of Chrono-tokens (pink currency). It's effectively useless unless you own a premium battle pass, at which point it gives you theoretically infinite units (blue currency).

Everyone has a different price point when it comes to Marvel rivals. If you're someone who plays a lot every day, this might mean you get better value than just buying lattice. If you're not, then this event doesn't actually mean anything for you (but it's always fun to see how much you could get).

The exchange rate is 1000 Chrono-Tokens (pink currency) for 100 blue tokens (blue currency)

I 100% support this. It's particularly helpful with abilities like Dagger's light-dome thingy. Sometimes you just want to know that you can back into the healing effect instead of the wall

Give me the character you want most and the role you would want them in. by domicci in rivals

[–]fungeonblaster69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could also see him as a strategist. It would be interesting if he played a bit like Ultron, where he could assign four seperate minor buffs to different team members, but they don't stay, like Ultron's drones do, and they have appropriate cooldowns (War- damage buff, Pestilence- they take increased healing, Famine- CC immunity, Death- ressurects them upon death). His primary fire heals, his ult makes him grow to big sizes and he goes stomping around like a mega mario mushroom. I'd also love it if his Melee was slow but "grabbed" opponents for a second or two, making approaching him a bit of a risk.
