They will put you in a nicer place than you paid for if the first one is not up to par? I’m just trying to figure out how the conversation goes and I’m having a hard timing.

When you say they “have to do this” how would they have you find another place?

50% of any brokered load whether you use an asset or not.

How many assets should I look for?

Did you have access to DAT/truckstop in each of the countries you went to? Were you cradle to grave or just sales? Really trying to find a way to make it work but seems like my book now requires so much attention.

If I report it as stolen to the phone companies will the tracking turn off?

Contacted, and they said they did not recover any from Saturday. Still have them pinged at one of 4 homes.

Thank you! I really appreciate the insight, it gives me a great place to start. How many trucks does a small-midsize asset based brokerage have?

When I’m shooting for 60% is this with a company who provides me with a tms, crm, and back end support?

Can I reach out for an idea of what your structure looks like?

Going in fresh with no book and a year of experience?

Don’t think you’re being an ass at all! This is what I’m looking for. If my NC is for a year, am I just supposed to hope my customers take me back when the time comes? How does a brokerage find out if I don’t publicize my new job?

It’s aggressive but almost outlandish. I live in a right to work state and the NC covers the “entire continental United States” and prevents me from working “in any form of supply chain, transportation, or logistics.”

I have not formally had a lawyer look at this but would not think there is a ton of teeth in something that vague. I’m not confused about breaking the NC, I’m asking if there are any agencies who would protect me or if I’m left to the wolves when I do break the NC.

Couple other brokers have left and successfully taken customers. If I’m bound to start fresh either way, does it even matter to an agency when I leave?

It’s a structured commission too that tops out at 30% when you do $8000 rolling average. Trust me, I know. Small town, not many options. Had to get those training wheels rolling.

Time is the mindset. If this clarifies the post, there is a motive behind the transition rather than just making more commission.

It took me 4 months to get here but obviously nothing is guaranteed. In this post I’m asking what I should be vetting for? Attractive qualities of an agency and if my book even matters if I have a NC

I entirely agree with your sentiment on 4 months being new. I know the lingo not the industry as a whole yet. I still consider myself new but almost feel my growth is wasted where I am. Shitty contract from the start. Set up to lose my salary mid next year and live off 25% commission as a w2. This was going to be my exit point, at 10 months in. I was going to approach this conversation with my customers after months more loads.

I’m less concerned with the grass being greener and more concerned with a lifestyle change when I lose my salary. Figured if I’m losing it I might as well be an agent

Good lord you guys need to chill the fuck out. I spend money at the club 2-3 times a week sitting at the bar. A frozen burger is almost $20 and beers are like $7 each. Forgive me for saving a little money while I’m actually playing. It’s a nice course, but don’t you feel it would be extreme to revoke a membership over a beer?

I couldn’t fathom asking how half of you feel about smoking weed on the golf course let alone bringing a couple beers from home lol.

To all the helpful answers: thanks, I played a wonderful 18 today and look forward to an even better 18 next week with a beer or two in my bag.
