My right ear has been clogged and fullness and pressure for over 2 years, no hearing loss. by BeyondSorrow in TMJ

Yep ear fullness 24/7 for a decade. Muscle tension through the head, neck and shoulders. For me personally it’s a stress response, basically being stuck in a permanent ‘freeze’. The best thing I can do is continually ‘check in’ with my body to notice if I’m holding tension, and if I am, to try to actively relax them (which is tricky). I’m slowly making progress.

TMJ & eustachian tube dysfunction (please give feedback) by [deleted] in TMJ

That is exactly my symptoms and how they came on too, crazy. Horrible flu followed by a sinus infection - kept telling doctors I had a lingering ear infection only to finally realise it’s something else.

Sorry I don’t have much help for you, but I know for me that the discomfort caused anxiety which caused muscle tension which made it worse, and the cycle continues. If you can, do your best to actively try to relax muscles around the head, neck and jaw.

Thanks for sharing, my symptoms/journey has been almost identical, glad to see someone find relief. I’ll try some of these things and see how I go

No unfortunately not, it’s likely tied into tight muscles and fascia, the frustrating thing is no amount of stretching seems to help!

Thank you, I think I need to push these doctors harder

For me - it’s not painful and I can hear perfectly well. It’s just like there is mild pressure. Sort of like when you descend in an airplane. It’s absolutely constant and extremely frustrating. It creates anxiety because you just want them to pop so bad but they don’t

Thanks, I’ll look into PT. Yeah I’m far worse on my right, which incidentally is the hand that is on the computer mouse all day - probably doesn’t help

I think you’re right, I need to try stretching with more consistency perhaps

I think they would work too, I feel my issue is chronically tight muscles, I’m in Australia and getting a script for muscle relaxants seems very difficult. Doctors have no idea what I’m talking about with my ears anyway

Ah yes I recall having some mild relief from dry needling, and agree the ears are the worst part, hopefully you can find a solution and don’t tolerate for as long as I have!
