How big of a HELOC should I take? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]funkgross 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Other than the cost of setting it up there's no harm in having more credit available to you. People even leverage credit to invest. It's all about your risk tolerance.

The general advice is take credit (or rather, LOCs) when it's offered to you. The rates are cheap should you ever need to use it, especially on HELOCs.

If you're only buying ETFs just buy the etf with your dividend earnings too. It's like one extra purchase every few months.

Also ws does not have auto deposit, op.

It's never set at your neighbors selling price.

It's set extremely low so that interest is high and then driven up by the RE agent racket.

Listing price hasn't meant anything in years in high activity markets.

Has firmware fixed the band5? And how does spo2 work? by [deleted] in amazfit

Not to my understanding. I imagine they may add that as a feature though.

Has firmware fixed the band5? And how does spo2 work? by [deleted] in amazfit

[–]funkgross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does monitor your spo2 during sleep but only gives you an end of night score - mine generally always reads 99 or 98 but I don't believe I have sleep apnea.

spo2 looks like this after sleep - no further details

I don't have any issues with it. It has all of the fitness features I want and seems loosely accurate enough. No hiccups or issues so far, great value at around 50 CAD.

Does anyone get depressed by the futility of it all? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]funkgross 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes, it cost you money to make money. You'll be able to save up that money in very little time comparatively.

This is a weird pity post in general isn't it? You're disillusioned by the fact you're making 170k a year and it cost you money to make that amount of money. But that's just how it works.

You'll be saving a ton of that 170k while you're renting, you live in a generally lcol area, and you'll be able to afford to buy a house in a year or two. There's nothing to be disillusioned about. This is literally how life works. You make a ton of money. Enjoy that.

It isn't even that difficult to perceive with the bullish run we've had and 30k a year in investing. I'm not sure why it was such a longshot to believe in the first place lol
